That is nonsense. No prospect, unless they're considered can't-miss bluechippers, will have near the amount of trade value as a player who broke out offensively and led his team in scoring this past season.
do not happen??

i think you meant will not happen right?
lol :lol Ever heard of such a thing as demand and supply? oh btw is Melkin a can't miss? I made my point

Oh I agree. Pleks probably has more trade value, but that serves us just as well. The problem is, he would have to immediately take over Ribeiro's spot, meaning we'd have to get rid of him first. Also, realize that by another year I mean a year in which he probably plays 20-25 games with the Habs before we make a decision. Since he'd probably still rip up the AHL in the meantime, he'd probaby retain quite a bit of value. I just can't see Montreal moving Ribeiro the year after leading the team in scoring, and I'd hate to lose Kasty, Perez, or Higgins if a deal had to be made THIS year/draft (a first line winger, second line winger, and checking line center... all more immediately valuable to the current team than a sub-6', talented, fancy center). Notice I didn't even mention Hainsey and Komi... we'd be retarded to deal any of our defensive prospects, ALMOST regardless of the return.

Personally I don't want to put our offensive upside players on a checking line.

I would rather bring them up when they are ready to play on one of the scoring lines...It worries me that they may be in there head that "Im just a third line player" and never truly develop. While i realize these guys are professionals the mind game is much much more difficult to develop then the physical game.

I assume you are referring to Higgins. I'll just explain that as long as we have Pleks ready to make the jump, Higgins will not find any time on the top two lines... not even a game. He will be able to break on as a third liner, both because of the game he plays and our depth chart, regardless of where he may progress to from there. He's one of our hardest working prospects, and that's why I say keep him despite being a third line prospect (initially).

I'd like to see how our prospects do in the NHL.

Although I love Kovalev, Balej will make us cry in the future.

Think about the Iginla trade.

Balej was/is no Iginla, and his upside is not even close.

I wouldn't think of trading Pleks . That kid is fast and will be getting better without a doubt. If worse comes to worse and he doesn't turn out to be a points getter , at least he can be an energetic third liner. ( Ward-Pleks-Bulis ) the third line of 2006 perhaps. If Ward manages to survive 2 more seasons of course.

The Iginla trade sure made Dallas Cry. Tears of Joy when Nieuwendyk was Conn Smythe Winner and they hoisted the Stanley Cup. You make a deal like that when a cup is on the line. Sometimes you have to risk a good player for the future to go for it all now, I wouldn't have a problem with that type of deal if in a couple years Gainey feels we have a legit shot at a cup.

This year we weren't a true cup contender, but Balej is no Iginla, thats for sure Mooch, i have no problem with that deal. Kovy helped us get to the second round. Now lets sign him.

As far as a Bulis-Pleks-Ward line goes i really like the sound of this. This is a very good third line, that can be good defensively and may create some chances at the other end. I still believe that with one NHL year under his belt Ward will develop a finishing touch this season and could score 15 goals. A year after that he could be a decent 20 goal threat. With Bulis already a 20 goal threat, and pleks a nifty set up man I think this would be among the better 3rd lines in the league.
