So from reading the thread I gather the 200 level will be above the lower bowl??? Damn i thought my 200 aisle seats row A were the best kept secret ..hope it is first row above boxes if we 200 seaters get relocated...does this mean we are now yellow seaters again ?

They should do Red for the bottom, White for the middle, Blue for the top

yeah thats what i figured, meaning im going to get boned. one would hope they'll do something to right that situation, cause clearly having a seat in the first (couple) of rows is much better that being stuck in the back

That's why I still think they put in a little wall/rail or similar divider (like they have now between 100's and 200's to separate the clubs and 100's. That way they can keep different section numbers for the clubs & non-clubs. I'd rather have my seat numbers say Sec 100, Row B than Sec 100, Row P.

96-97 - $34.58
97-98 - $58.83
98-99 - $58.83
99-00 - $65.82
00-01 - $65.82

01-02 - $44.58
02-03 - $44.58
03-04 - $44.58
05-06 - $44.63
06-07 - $45.83

I can't find the numbers for this year, but if you look at how high prices have been compared to today, we can't say that they haven't been worse. Plus they could raise the prices of suites and club seats (bought by corporations) to more than make up for the cost. Don't forget, suites will be much larger than before, so there will probably be a big price increase in those. The arena makes more money off of the suites than the regular seats. You put 12-15 people into a suite and charge a corporation with lots of $$$ (a few grand) which is much better and easier than crushing the rest of the people for $5, $10, $20 a piece. You could make 86k extra per game by just raising the price of suites by $1000 per game. Multiply that over 82 games (Rangers & Knicks) and you get $7,052,000.

BTW, the average ticket price in the NHL last season was $43.13. The highest was Vancouver at $58.96. If the Rangers make the cheap seats $70 as you suggest, their average price would be close to $100, no way that happens.
I get what you are saying but since when did MSG care about the prices for other teams? Also, in reality, if the Rangers are $70 for the cheapies, you really think anyone will all of a sudden become a Devils or Islanders or Philly fan to save on tickets? I doubt that since Rangers fans hate those 2 teams...and there are no other NHL teams nearby. I think the ticket prices in 2012 will surprise you...

No, they'll just watch on TV, just like how it is in Detroit. If you lower your price, demand will drop, we're dealing with an elastic good, this isn't gasoline, this is entertainment. Rangers fans may be crazy about their team, but they aren't nuts. Why would someone pay the same amount of money it currently costs to sit in the 200s just to sit in the 400s? Just imagine how high the price will be in the 300s & 200s if that's the case. Is someone really going to pay $4100 for a season subscription? I sure wouldn't pay double the price I do now and I'm sure most people wouldn't either.

Love how it looks but a lil worried about how they are going to revamp the seating. I sit in the second row of the 400's so i hope that i don't get forced to move. But all in all it looks like we will getting a damn nice place to see a game.

It looks like you won't have to move...although it appears the 400s will be relocated to above the top suites, so you may be closer to the ceiling, although not further back.

I'm interested to see how they break down the construction. I wonder if the seats will be the first or last part of it. My guess is that MSG would want it to be first so they can start collecting more money but from a construction point of view I don't know if that would work.

It makes sense since in order to do the concourses they need to first do the seats. IMO it may work as follows:
Lobby & entrances, seats, concourses. Makes sense to me.

From what I understand, the first years of the project will be the lobby and concourses, which will be finished by 2010. The final offseason before scheduled completion, the inside of MSG will be ripped apart and completly redone. Thus, the current seating arrangements for MSG will be around for 3 more seasons, assuming the project is to be done by the end of 2011.

How are they going to do the concourses without moving the seats forward? I don't get it.

The inside concourses are being extended outward toward the streets, so it will not interfere with the seating.

yea theres like 20+ feet of thick wall between the hall and outside surface of the garden.

the entrance seems like something could even do partly during the season.

You'd be better off writing the Mayor or your city council rep. Wishes on hockey boards don't change laws.

I believe standing room only tickets are in violation of some kind of NY law, anyone can verify this?

Yes, but indoor codes are different from outdoor codes.
