Sergei Kostitsyn amazing playoff debut !!

Hello there !!

After the first round,

Sergei Kostitsyn is leading the team in most statiscal categories:

Points = 6 (tied with Kovalev)
Goals = 3 (tied with his brother)
Plus/Minus = +4
Penality minutes = 12
Shooting Purcentages = 25%

Thats amazing considaring that the kid is just a rookie and knowing that's it's even harder to perform in the playoffs !!

Ohhh, and he just got 21 years old a month ago...

Personnally, I knew it all along that the kid was going to be good

He has made some rookie mistakes, but I agree. He has played really well even taking into consideration this is his 1st NHL playoffs.

The penalties need to ease down.. but it was like that all season, so I don't know why people were that shocked.

GO SERGEI!

I read a lot of people claiming Sergei does look like Koivu out there.

I have to agree. Intense, solid, fearless, good when it counts, and takes a lot of bad penalties.

Plus he is as physical as a tank! Open ice hits! Making some guys regret going into corners!

One year we will see A KOST 50 goals, S KOST 100 points, maybe not in 2 or 3 years, but it WILL happen

I liked him better in the regular season to be honest. Both he and his brother looked 'off' to me the entire series except the 3 period last night and the first period in Game 1. Both of them are excellent passers yet they both seem to keep fanning on passes, missing the guy completely, etc.

Considering he's a 20yr old rook....OK.

Ignoring that he's a 20yr old rook....I think he's looked downright awful most shifts. Lots of errant passes, stupid penalties and getting owned physically.

JMHO.

Anyone notice this Boston series started and ended in the same fashion?

Game 1: Sergei scores in the first minute. Andrei scores about 2 minutes into the game.

Game 7: Andrei scores with about 2 minutes left. Sergei scores in the last minute (few seconds) of the game.

Just like bookends on a shelf to a good storybook.

Shocked? No. Worried? Obviously 'cause it's way more costly in the playoffs and you hope that he'll understand one day. He's young, hope he will. But it's not because it was like that, that it should continue.

He's been great. Just please, Sergei, knock it off with the offensive zone hooks/trips/interference.

It's amazing his stats are that good since he's actually not played his best hockey. He's had a few great shifts but a bunch of bad ones.

Don't get me wrong, I have a full man-crush on Sergei like I haven't had since Saku was a rookie. I just feel we've only seen the tip of the iceberg with Sergei so far.

He's a good player for sure but there's lots of room to improve if he works hard on it. Then he'll become a great player. For starter, the lazy penalties have to go.

He's got a lot of maturing to do, but I like the talent and drive I'm seeing. I wouldn't call his performance an unqualified success, but he definitely helped us win the round, which is more than you can say for Pleks, Ryder, and others.

Sergei has been good in some games, very good in others (like Game 6), and excellent last night.

His feed to Higgins for the 4-4 tying goal on Saturday was absolutely gorgeous. That's the kind of play that makes me think he's going to be a playoff performer in his career... a real clutch player in the making folks!

I don't think he will ever get 50 goals. 100 points isn't out of the question if he progresses well but 50 goals is just too much concidering that he is more an assist man.
