Step 1: Draft a franchise calibre goalie.

I made one for the 2004 Finals. I went a "little" extreme...it's damn near full-size. It's about 1" too tall. I could get it into the arena for a couple of reasons:
#1) It's not metal so the metal detector wands didn't declare it a weapon. It's made from a solid block of foam on a hot wire machine. Then it's sanded and painted.
#2) My season ticket seats are at the top of the section and I can stand to watch the game. I had to place it on the floor in front of me. It did make a nice place to set my beers. Denis Potvin wasn't too thrilled when I held it up because it blocked his view in the media box and he couldn't see to call the game. He threw a media guide at me to get even.

I'd keep it simple and make sure that security at the arena doesn't have an issue with it.

Here's a pic of mine next to the real one:

Not to be overly optimistic, but why plan something for game 5?... Unless you mean game 1 of round 3

Thats exactly what I used to build mine 2 years ago. Woo Raleigh newspaper. It came out pretty good and held beer pretty well.

Thanks! I took the time to track down every player etched on it for the Lightning win and had them sign it. I got the coaches, local media guys, and the team president to sign it. Here's some more pics.

Funniest one I saw was those 5 gallon (I don't really know size) purified water jugs you can get with a 10$ deposit, wrapped in aluminum foil. It also had a bowl glued to the top (also wrapped in aluminum foil). It even had a handle to hold on to (integrated into jug).

I don't think they're going to let people in games with those cups anymore. People are getting crazy with security nowadays. They might think you're a terrorist and hid a machine gun or a bomb or something inside.

Excellent work Tokala, what were some of the reactions you received from the Tampa players/management?

All positive response. Most would get a big grin when they saw it and I asked them to sign it. Andre Roy picked it up like he was celebrating again, turned towards the Pittsburgh bus and taunted them (he was with Pittsburgh that year). Some asked how we made it and thought that it was heavy until they picked it up. Mike Bolt from the HHOF thought that it was one of the better ones that he's ever seen.

That would have been incredible seeing all of the players reactions. Thanks for including the pics, and again great work. Definitely a keepsake for years and years to come.

Less than 1 hour to make. Took from the start of the lockout until training camp 05-06 (nearly 2 years) to get all the signatures.
