No thanks... don't need a 35 year old with a big contract.

I wouldn't move Kilger for Cassels.

I don't think that one would fly, either...and I like Cassels.

No way, not that Cassels isn't a good player, but he's too old. Should just keep Fitzgerald.

Chad Kilger is suddenly untouchable?

I may remind you he was a WAIVER addition who only got into the lineup due to injuries.

I'd trade him for Cassels in a heartbeat.

Kilger has played for what 6-7 teams already and he's barely 26-27 years old?

You don't think CBJ would jump all over that? I think they would love to shed Cassels' contract. I'm not sure what Kilger makes but he is a lot cheaper than Cassels.

If Cassels stays healthy he's a guaranteed 40 assists .. Kilger is lucky to play 40 games and get 10 points a season

I don't think Columbus would jump on that at all

and Kilger is cheaper but there's lots of cheaper alternatives to play a grinding role and contribute a point every 7-8 games than Chad Kilger

Kilger was claimed off of waivers at the deadline. Cassels rumours were plenty around the deadline. I think it would be a great move for any team

I'm not so sure they wouldn't. According to NHLPA, Kilger makes 800K vs. Cassels 3.225M. All Iím saying is that CBJ would love to get rid of that salary regardless of what they get in return. Obviously this isn't a good hockey deal for CBJ, but most trades today are more about money than talent.

From CBJ's perspective I think they do it.
From TOR's perspective I think they do it if they don't mind the salary.

If Toronto makes the trade, that's about $3.5M locked up in a 35 year old player... if they don't, they then have that money to spend on a younger free agent during the offseason.

you act like Toronto doesn't overpay for old players

35 on TORONTO is like 25 in most places.. he'd bring the average age of the team down 5 years

Great joke.

How long did it take you to come up with that piece of work?

Cassels is good on the powerplay and is the only player remotely close to being a playmaking center on the CBJ. I don't think they want to shed the contract that bad and I don't think Kilger would be enough incentive.

Blah I wouldn't trade Kilgar for Cassels either. Kilgar was the 2nd best addition by the Leafs and just because he was picked up on waivers means squat. All that means is a bunch of other teams missed the boat and Montreal and him were not a great fit.

I really liked what I saw from him and would be interested in seeing him for a whole season.

Don't be so quick to say he only played because of injuries. If Nolan came back it was Belak not Kilgar going to sit. Kilgar played his way onto the team by not taking a shift off and forechecking quite well.

The complaints I saw from Montreal fans about him I just didn't see while he was playing...maybe he had a good streak. Or maybe the Blue and white got him to play good hockey

Anyways Cassels does not fit on this team at all. The only way he would have was if we had signed Sanderson as well

That is how Tronna operates.

To say a waiver wire player and a 3rd rounder is too much for Cassels is ridiculous.

When did anyone say it was "too much"?

Look at what Cassels contract looks like... and his age... and what the Leafs can do without a big contract.
