I agree the effect is really nice, but waving a white towel gives the wrong impression. Red towels were nicer.

I had a magic idea...
Since it looks popular, why don't they give a towel and a little butane lighter to every fan so they can burn the player of their choice... that way the towel would be useful more than saving on the AC for the guys in the pressbox.

The fun is, even if he is already half burnt, it's still fun to burn he rest when it's Danielle!!! You just have to wait your turn to choose the part you want to burn!

I've been hoping the fans at the Bell Center could be as colorful as the ones in Calgary or Winnipeg back in the day. We are a very loud and unforgiving crowd however every fan should own and wear a Habs jersey with pride.

It would be awesome if a major sponsor , say Molson Ex , handed out red t-shirts to everyone at the Bell Center. I'm sure the price would not be a factor. Those bubble heads probably cost 10x more then a red Gildan T-shirt with a Corporate logo and a Habs logo on it ....

I think now that we made it to round 2, they should give out t-shirts. Red t-shirts!

Winnipeg didn't really have a towel tradition, or a pom pom tradition, although I think both were used during different playoff runs. The big thing there was dressing all in white. And not thanks to shirts that were handed out. Rummaging through your closet, Jets merch, or, if worse came to worse, running to the mall across from the arena at the last minute and buying one. Every store in the mall would set up racks of white t-shirts outside their stores for the playoffs. Even stores that didn't normally sell clothes haha. Then came the white face paint, hard hats, you name it. And, as you say, noise reduction wasn't a problem when we had things to hold... The real noise came from the lungs. Besides, people were clutching signs, flags, bullhorns and drinks (no cup holders in the old barn) anyway. The give aways were always labellled with the year and motto, so it mdae for a great souvenir.

PS - Never use thundersticks. For some reason, giving people thundersticks makes them think they have to smack them together instead of cheering.

I like the towels, I have one from the Carolina series, and two from this year. A friend of mine has actually framed the Carolina one for me, and she'll do the others once the playoffs are over.
