Subject says it all... will Carbo continue to ride "experience" with Dandenault in the lineup and sit 2 guys capable of scoring? Should he?

Vote in the poll as to what you think will happen, and post up your thoughts below.

I hope not...if everything goes well on our way to the 25th SC, there's no point to make changes in the lineup...

Lats - I hope so since he need to gain some PO experience despite not being that great against the Bruins.

Ryder - I could care less to be honest since he most likely won't be here next season. I would only insert him in the lineup if our offense has an hard time producing but that's about it.

I think the next time he plays, Lats will finallly give finally give a real effort every shift, so far i'm very dissapointed, i thought he would of start hitting evreything like Lucic. He wasn't worst then Dandy is but he's still thusfar

I think we will see Lats again...not sure about Ryder though. I think our fourth line was by far our weakest again last game, and Carbs will not put up with that for too long. Especially if we fall behind in the series.

If they don't it's not that big of a deal IMO. Our top 2 lines are our bread and butter and very capable of scoring on any shift. Our 3rd line (Smoke line) plays a very gritty style and can play against anyone. The 4th line (Laps line) doesn't really get a lot of minutes and they do fine with limited ice time.

Do you honestly think we can out score the Pens or Rangers in the Eastern Finals with Dandy and the rest of the lunch pail gang in Lapierre, Begin, Smolinski and Kostopolous?

If so I think your sadly mistaken.

Believe it or not, we do need to have some forwards out there that are capable of playing defensive. All those guys you just mentioned were AWESOME on the PK for us and a big reason why we are in the second round. I know a lot of people are obsessed with offense but we have plenty of offense even with Ryder and Lats out of the lineup.

The only change I might make is Lats for Dandenault (I won't ever argue for having Dandy in the lineup) but at the same time I don't see Dandy holding our team back in any way when he is playing 9 mins a night.

1. You didn't understand what I wrote.
2. I would like to see Ryder instead of Dandenault, but still, none of our players are hurting us. Dandenault doesn't score, but at least he can forecheck.

One thing is for sure, we have more chances of making it to the SCF with the lunch pals than with Grabovski/Chipchura/D'Agostini.

I agree that we need to give Lats playoff experience. I've heard that he still has conditioning problems this season. They could have pulled him to work him hard. Lets face it we're facing Philly and we'll need a young guy who can go out there and hurt people, and slow down the top line and if he's not in game shape; he needs to get into it right quick.

As for Ryder...he's already gone to me. After his performance against the Bruins; its clear that he's mentally checked out of Montreal. I'd rather see one of the kids from the Bulldogs playing than him.

I definitely agree with that. He just makes so many bad decisions on the ice. He had one play in the Boston series that just baffled me...he had the puck in the defensive zone with both defensemen back. He skated around the zone and then instead of passing if off to a defenseman he decided to skate right through the crease in front of the net and nearly gave the puck away. I was just sitting watching it and saying ***...it looked like a play some peewee player would make. It's those types of plays that have landed him in the pressbox.

Koivu, Kovalev, Higgins, Plekanec, A. Kostitsyn, and S. Kostitsyn will remain our top 6 in whatever permutations Carbo chooses.

Begin, Smolinski, and Kostopoulos should remain our third line.

Barring injury or really really poor play, I expect only the fourth line to be changeable. Currently, it's a place to store a PP specialist in Streit, and a guy who kills penalties in Lapierre. Then you have a free wing spot currently given to Dandenault for his speed, experience, and versatility, but clearly he isn't playing particularly well.

So there is that 1, low-minute spot that a guy like Latendresse or Ryder or Stewart could aspire to earning for a game or 2 at some point. I do think we'll certainly see Lats again eventually. Ryder less of a chance, and Stewart may be an option at some point this round if the Flyers run Price and come after us with Cote + Downie.

Lats is a hab next year, so Carbo will get him into a game if he can. His size could be very helpful and he has come back hungry from benchings before.

Ryder, I have no hunch whatsoever. If we go deep, then I assume the depth will have more chance to play, but if we do need changes, I'm not sure Ryder's high on my list. Kovalev looks pretty good in his slot right now.

Believe it or not, the Laps line is the line I look forward to seeing most against Philly. Lots of guys one the Philly roster have short fuses...Our agitator line could draw some prime penalties against the Flyers. They're also fast and small so they can hit big guys pretty well due to their low centre of gravity, which means they should be able to disturb Philly's big d-men. They also go hard to the net and might be able to get Biron off of his game, something Washington never seemed to be able to do.

Personally I see their limited minutes being put to great use out there.

I think we will see some changes after our next loss.

I really don't like having Streit and Dandeneault on the same line. Streit needs to stay in the lineup for his PP contributions. Dandeneault was fine, but i'd rather see one of Ryder or Lats, preferably Lats, on that line.

I also wonder if Carbo will ever take Brisebois out of the lineup? Not that i can complain too much about his play, but im hoping O'Byrne gets in some early series action against the Flyers...i don't want him sitting for too long...

The problem is the Laps line is not an agitator line. Begin and Kostopoulos play with Smolinski. If anything, that's the bump and grind line.

Lapierre's wingers are Streit and Dandenault, neither of whom are overly menacing or strike fear in the heart of the opponent.

Using this as a criteria, then 80% of our team mentally checked out against Boston. I thought Ryder was about average. He was shooting the puck and setup some good chances. He was even using the body once in awhile. All in all, he was certainly better and a bigger threat than Dandenault.

Dandenault has been mentally checked out the last two seasons and has been pretty much useless. Don't forget Mr. Experience was -11 this season.

I know some of you have a love for Ryder but he just makes terrible decisions with the puck, ESPECIALLY on the powerplay where most of you consider him a "specialist".

As most other people pointed out, our top 6 barring injury (knock on wood) is set. IMO the only way we see Ryder back playing is if we get a string of a couple losses in a row and Carbo just wants to change it up for the sake of changing it up or if we get an injury to someone in the top 6.

He reminds me of Brisebois but in a forward

That's simple, play him on the third line and don't give him powerplay time. The top 6 forwards will be on the powerplay anyways, won't they?

Seemed to work in game 7 with Brisebois.

CAPABLE but not scoring all year basically.. Dandys playoff experience and the fact he can play better in his own end swing it his way.

Lat will be put back in.. although hes as useful as armpits on a snake, and Ryder.. well how many more 'last chances' will he get??

Some stats for the Dandenault lovers:

In the regular season:

Ryder 122 hits in 70 games.
Latendresse 134 hits in 73 games.

Dandenault 70 hits in 60 games.

Let's not over exaggerate the forechecking abilities of Dandenault. Ryder and Latendresse play more physically as shown by these stats.

of course...
I hope Latendresse replaces Dandenault soon. and O'Byrne Brisebois.
IMO Dandy and Brisebois will play themselfs out of the team pretty soon...they are that bad.

Dandenault is useless. But it's going to take a loss for Carbo to change the lineup.

Brisebois was a turnover machine in game 7, but we ended up with a 5-0 win, so all is forgiven.

I don't know, hopefully we see the younger guys who helped us finish 1st place get a chance over the guys who weren't good enough to play most games in the regular season.
