Fans in Chicoutimi

I'm going to Chicoutimi tomorrow. It seems I'm having dinner with a client, and I'm hoping to get him to suggest a sports bar. I vaguely remember a Cage Aux Sports.

Is it as busy as Mtl and just walking in at 6.00 would be tough ? I think we're staying at Le Montagnais, anyone know if their hotel bar is a place to watch a game ?

Any ideas ?

I'm living 3 minutes away from Le montagnais.

There is a night club and a resto-bar but I doubt you can watch a game there. I may be wrong though. I actually never went there.

A nice place would be "Le Stade" (actually pretty close from le Montagnais, also on blv. Talbot). La cage aux sports is also a good option.

But since there is a game that day, I guess it will be tough to get a table in either place.

Bistrot du Fjord might also present the game..it is 2 minutes away walking form Le Montagnais and just in front of the Centre George Vézina (sags arena)...it is also on the University Campus...

if not La cage aux sports or Le Stade will probably present it...I would think it will be hard to find a place if you don't reserve though..but le Bistrot should be the easiest to get into without reservation.

i was there last weekend and I got to see the 2nd and 3rd period at the resto/bar we went too. It was called L'odessey (not sure of the spelling). Was really nice and some nice people too.

It's pretty busy on game nights if you want a table, I suggest you call and make a reservation a few hours beforehand to be sure.

If you go somewhere, be sure to drop a line here so we can show up and maybe have a beer! No promises though, I'm in the middle of my finals

I'll be so nervous, I'd prefer a case of beer and a pizza and the hotel room, but I'm not alone. That, and I have to meet up with a customer. Why God Why ?

Like I said before, I think it has to do with an ingrained human need to belong, to hold a special place in the universe, to, in short, matter. You went a bit off topic there Mcphee, still always an interesting discussion to have I guess.

It turns out that Cage Aux Sports in Chicoutimi was taking reservations as late as Monday afternoon. We reserved, arrived in town, cheched in, did some work and agreed to meet in the lobby late afternoon.

As we were walking towards the door, we noticed a bright, horshoe shaped bar, plenty of room, high barstools looking directly at a large screen, beautiful young waitresses in rather tight clothing. Many beers on tap, I began to weep at this point. I turned to my friend and mentionned, 'you know, it's early, we'll end up having a few at the Cages, we'll have to drive back, it's only 2 minutes, but still.

He told me, 'Look around, everything we love in this world is here.'

So we stayed at the hotel bar, which I believe is realitively new, were treated well, Habs won, so this means that if they are under duress in this series, a poster has to go watch the game there.

Been meaning to ask. WHY were there 3 Aussies in a local Chicoutimi sports bar?

Well, I don't buy that off the wall explanation for one second. Can't believe you fell for that old "we're from an Australian mining equipment company doing stuff at a nearby mine"! Oldest trick in the book.

Obviously, they came to introduce mean looking koala bears into our fauna. Think it has something to do with the manner in which toilets flush down there.

Some good guys!

They could have said that, who knows what they're talking about.

I once knew a stripper named Fauna.

Basically this means that Clover is alone and restless while you go out?

Back to Chicoutimi sports places

Yes, La Cage is often packed. The vast majority of people in Chicoutimi that rooted for the Nords switched to the Habs (I'm one of them), so there is a playoff fever right now up there too.

There is a resto bar in le Montagnais, however last I went there, there were no TVs. Mind you, that was 4 years ago.

L'odysée is a good place too, as well as Le Stade. Personally, I prefer le Stade. Better atmosphere usually (due to cheaper beer).

There are also quite a few in Jonquière and La Baie, although I don't know them very well.

I think it was new. One of my colleagues said that he'd gone to a club in the hotel years ago [20] and it was fun. He didn't think they had a small bar that would be convenient either.
