Making the Cut

Just curious if any of you fellow Habs fans will be trying out for the Hockey reality show this coming fall called Making the Cut? I'm too old unfortunately. Sounds like an awesome time! I was never much of a skater (danm flat feet!), so played goal when I was younger. Then blew out a knee...

Anyway, if you haven't heard about it and feel you can play hockey reasonably well, you should check it out. Be great to have an HF'er to cheer for!

All the details: Making the Cut

Forget it, man. If McPhee doesn't show, neither will I. Boy, does my back hurt!

Heh, I hear ya....barely though! Come on, one of the young bucks on here must be able to represent the HF Hab fans! Don't make me go look at the age poll!

I was even filling out the registration before the full import of your "I'm too old" statement settled in and I looked up their ridiculous age discrimination rule. Doh. All they want is photogenic under-20's?

Bah, it would have made for more entertaining TV to see a bunch of us old slobs get worked over by Iron Mike and then sit around the bar afterward swapping tales of Rocky Taconite.

(Besides, I think it's all a scam to start training and recruiting a legion of replacement players/scabs for the lockout).

There's no maximum age limit. Women can try out too.

Sounds like a potential episode for CBC's "ICE." I think you should get on that BG.

Nah, you're our man. You fit the bill perfectly....right??

from MakingtheCut.ca

26. Is there a minimum age to register?

Yes 19 years of age (born before January 1, 1985).

28. Is there a maximum age limit?
No, there is not.

I heard that Traverse was already eliminated. Ooh, that one wasn't nice.

Blind Gardien can do it. No rules against the visually impaired. I could do all the Roberts/Tucker/Mccabe stuff where you look real indignant and you scream and holler at every penalty. I may have problems with the during the play stuff though.
I've got an idea for one of our younger, more fit posters though. Wear a hood like an old wrestler. Tell people,'They call me The Carver'. Sit in the dressing room slowly rotating the blade of the stick in the air. That might get you some extra space on the ice.

Wait a sec... ahh... born *after* December 1984. Well, not like I'm paranoid when skimming a document or anything, eh? Sooo.... there is no too old? Jacques?!

There are a few other fine prints that seem to be a bit of a barrier right now (my last known full set of equipment probably sits mouldering in my parent's garage somewhere, if it even exists at all, for e.g., and there is something in there about being physically and mentally fit... I'm bound to fail on one or both of those...)

But okay. I mean, if nobody actually qualified steps forward, my failing hands could give it a try...

... but I'm sure one of our young guns could step forward and carry the torch instead? Please?

Hey, wait a second... I think I posted my self-disparagement on the "fit" issue *after* you said that mcphee! Don't forget, my Strength is 18/00 and I think I was scoring pretty well on Endurance and Dexterity too according to my profile.

I want to enter as Rocky Taconite. And then since the tryouts start here May 28, I could go through this whole 10-day ultra-training regime, running up and down steps, chasing pigeons, listening to the adoring crowds chanting "Rocky, Rocky, Rocky...", Survivor on the ghetto blaster, whoo... I'm gettin' pumped just thinking about it...

Just as a complete aside to all this...

When I first saw the subject of this thread, I was expecting it to be somehow related to Brisebois (and perhaps his imminent surgical plans for Fleuryfan29's genitalia)...

Actually I was thinking hard about going

I was never allowed to play rep hockey. This would be an excellent oppurtunity, but I was thinking I would train EXTRA hard and get ready for the next season...
