Yeah, they've been using that swooshy design on their non nike uniforms for a while already. Not at all surprised to see them take it to the worlds, but IMHO some of their old jerseys with just a small cross are a lot more classy than this thing.
I really like the "Suisse" flowing logo with the cross in the "u" that they used since the 1990's. Very classy. Their new federation logo is on the shoulder of the new style and is not, IMO, an improvement.
v-man... you seem to be familiar with national team jerseys... Do you have any? or do you just follow the national team competitions?
I have eight, ranging from authentics to knock offs, but mostly I just follow the international tournaments and have seen a lot of the old jerseys dating back to the 30's in photos on other sites.
Considering most teams jerseys didn't change at all, I hope that people take advantage of the old replicas and authentic's still on sale at Rivercitysports for less than these sublimated cheap sorry excuses for jerseys. At least the hats look good.
How can you tell the sweaters are sublimated by just looking at a picture?

Because the surface is completely flat, and has no shine or reflective properties like it would were it screen printed. It's pretty distinctive. The better question would be "how can you not tell just by looking at the picture".

well. hes the kind of consumer their targeting i guess. Im pissed about the quality.. Good thing I got an AUTHENTIC from river city for the same price.. I hope they have the Italy team shirts and the VINTAGE jersey theyll be wearing.. im going to see russia vs italy on friday. and i think theyll be wearing them then! hopefully there is a raffle or some kind of auction! aaaahhh!
check out some of my collection here.. most of my international jerseys were sold. but i kept all my italys. and have about 5 more to add!
the new ones are a million times better than the "red and black" old ones. thank god they finally changed...
woulda made more sense to have the bauer logo on them than the nike one. heck, bauer is giving away team canada (practice type) jerseys in Molson Canadian 20 packs so you'd figure they'd make the real ones have bauer on them as well (to go with the marketing)

look at the pictures. they are hand stitched just like any other authentic jersey. they aren't flat, you just have poor vision (it seems). the outline text of "canada" is clearly defined for one...
AFAIK the only parts sublimated are the nike logo on the front

And you have poor reading ability since the talk of sublimated jerseys revolves around the international team jerseys, not team Canada's. All of the international team jerseys other than the US, Sweden and Canada are sublimated. Take a look at them and tell me again I have poor vision Bud.
the ones that arent even being used in the big tournaments? who cares?
euro teams have always used dye sublimated jerseys made by 3rd parties for lesser tournaments.
youre wrong. . this tournament is "big" . and they will be using authentic jerseys made by nike.
the jerseys for sale at icejerseys are supposed to be replicas of the teams at the world championships. but they look of even lower quality than that..

All of the game worn, authentic jerseys will be sewn. No one is debating that. The fact is that Nike is selling cheap sublimated jerseys to most of the hockey world for the same price as Canadians, Swedes and Americans get higher quality sewn versions.
Does anyone know how long the Nike contract with the IIHF was for? Did Nike buy the rights to certain teams through the IIHF, or did they negotiate individually with each Federation?
sorry to update an old thread, but thought this was relevant.
From the Irish Ice Hockey Associations website.
"We were also told about the IIHF's ongoing contract with Nike. In the summer of 2010 a new one would be "redrafted" and signed in May. This will be approved at Congress. From the floor, France asked if individual countries could somehow "get in on" or be involved with Nike as well on a direct level. For example, they would like their replica jerseys to be made by Nike. It was said that this was up to Nike in France, but a good idea nonetheless."
