I heard on LCN that the police authorities asked the Habs players to make small messages that they will show on the jumbotron asking for the fans to celebrate without violence.
This morning on CJAD 800 Komisarek told me and all the listeners to not riot etc and enjoy the festive celebrations in appropriate manner...

I work at Gare Centrale and on De la Gauchetiere in front of Place Bonaventure are over a dozen motorcycle cops, a couple of squad cars, an RCMP marked car and several unmarked RCMP cars.

Hmph.

Is this the same security that had 16 of their cars blown up.
They blew up real good.

Well, Montreal PD is the same PD that had cars of theirs blown up by complete cluster**** idiots who contribute nothing to society and lack the necessary skills to be functional members of said society.

I had acquaintances that had ransacked private property after the '93 Cup, after the Guns and Roses concert, etc... It was obvious that it was not for the loot but the looting. One guy was excited to steal a Youppi children's pyjama, another guy was boasting that he had ripped off a mannequin head from a store display window...

Besides the fact it's a stupid thing to do, is the cost/benefit ratio really worth it in 2008 for the troublemakers considering that the chance of getting caught has been mutipled tenfold with all the camera phones?

I hope the kids try to start a riot just to see this.

The postgame celebrations were calm, and the fans peacefully celebrated around the Bell Center area, who has been quickly evacuated. There were several police squads out there and the downtown has been closely supervised.

Iím having a difficult time feeling any moral outrage over the destruction of some property and a few cop cars. Perhaps I lack scruples, I donít know. I can think of worse (and certainly more morally appalling) things which take place everyday that donít get the attention of this so-called Ďriotí.
