If you mean now, he's not.

Next year, I doubt it. Future, potentially.

I'd rather have Letang than Cogliano, Hanzal or Niskanen. He is a fantastic puck mover, great on the PP, although small he wins almost all of his puck battles without needing to crush someone, like Lidstrom. Not to mention he wins games singlehandedly with his amazing shootout skills.

He didn't have the best first round series, but he'll come around.
I have to disagree with you on that. I honestly think Marc Staal is the best defenseman "right now" coming out of the 2005 draft. He's a rock on defense and one of the main reason (with Tyutin) why the Rangers a pretty good defensively.

I stretched it when I said it wasn't close.

Niskanen is as good defensively as Staal, but better offensively, which is why I gave him the nod. I think, he was like 3rd on the Stars in +/-.

1- I don't agree with Latendresse 18th spot. I prefer at least a dozen guys ahead of him that you put after.

2- While you love Niskanen and say he's the best d-man of the draft, which I don't agree but agree that he's totally underrated, you cannot put Lee and Parent that far in the draft. You'll see next year that both guys still deserve to be in the top 20.
the worst thing of this awfull re-draft by far is Downey over Johson, now that is just discusting....
