Anthem singer - what is she doing ?

Guys, that little girl singing the anthem is always blowing in a small device before singing... what the hell is that ?

And why is she wearing that teeth thing as well ? In France those things are only worn by 13yo teens...

Weird girl anyway, she just screams and hurts my ears

I believe it was to test her voice, or something.

I don't know, I just know that the whole Bell Center's employees has that kind of thing even Kirk Muller speaks into it. And no that thing is for 'after' braces, I'm 18 and I'm not even finish with my braces so I'm gonna have that thing at like 19-20... so its not a little teens thing. But, she is 14...
And I personally think she's pretty good for a 14 year old girl.

Yes. It's no different than guitar players tuning their instrument before a show.

You blow into it to hear the tune before you sing.

I think she's a good singer, much better than some of the opera-like people they get on there

If you know that the anthem begins on a "LA" for example, well you search the "LA" cavity in that thing, you blew in it and it gives her the note she has to sing since it's "a cappella" without instrumentation, orchestra or anything.

It's really important to start on the right note 'cause as you have heard, those anthems have a wide range as far as low and high notes. If she starts the song too high, it will be impossible for her to reach some notes in the higher portion of it.

Complaining about a 14 year old kid singing the anthems. Wow. She's, by far, better than the singer in San Jose.

Except that all guitar players test their instrument... I had never seen any singer blow into such a device before. Does she try to find the "note", and the device gives her a voice frequency ?

She's getting the note by blowing in a harmonica or a similar device.

It's a pitch pipe, and yeah, it helps her find her starting note since she's singing a cappella. I thought she was good, for a fourteen year old.

He's been Boston's Anthem singer for quite a while now. Someone certainly thinks you're wrong.

I don't think she is bad.
