Where did Ole come from?

Anyone know the history on "Ole"? Like, it's a soccer chant why or how did it end up in hockey in Montreal?
thanks

It's a victory chant from soccer I believe.

In the bell center, it's called the bad luck + we're going to get scored on in the next minute chant.

Because everyone signs it badly lol

Even at the Bell Center they used to show the lyrics (lol) and it was Ole

But sang by a crowd it's true that it sounds like Owe

The Canadiens' DJ claimed the Bell Centre was the first North Amercian arena to play Ole. I read that somewhere on the internet a couple years ago. I don't remember where or I would provide a link. The fans picked up on it during the 02 run and the rest is history.

Usually love it, however chanting it when we're running around our own zone and getting scored on like tonight... huge suckage.

I don't know one single person who sings "Ole".

We were singing this chant years before they would show the "lyrics" at Bell Centre, and everybody was always saying "Ohé".

Do french people sing "ohé" and english people "ole" ? I don't know.

So you hate me, and I probably hate you (for hating people based on such reasons).

Yeah, I already knew it, but here some news : the Bell Center does not OWN THE TRUTH.

And what does the word "ole" has to do with anything related to hockey, habs or Montréal anyway ?

We should have more than this only chant, it's becoming annoying.
"Ole ole" only expresses joy, when there is plenty of other emotions in a single hockey game.

It's Ole. I don't know anyone who sings Ohe. I dont know why anybody would sing Ohe unless they had no idea what the song is...

It's like singing "Ha ha ha ha hey hey good bye"
