Fabian likes the style of play of CH

In this cyberpresse article http://www.cyberpresse.ca/article/20...128/CPSPORTS01 the agent of Fabian says that his client was impress by the CH offers, and that he likes the style of hockey the Ch plays. He also said that during the week-end they would chose 3-4 teams and focus on them, and in two weeks they should have come up with the final decision.

No not really. I think hes 4th or 5th on the team in scoring and theres a 22 year old with more points than him. Though I think hes on the second line. We will see.

Not sure how the Habs can promise this kid a place in their top-six (an apparent sticking point in his contract negotiations). First, I just can't see Gainey making such a promise to an unestablished player, and second, where is the room (Kostitsyn, Kostitsyn, Higgins, Kovalev)?

Although I read on Spectors this morning that AK Bars Kazan is preparing quite the offer for Andrei Kostitsyn...hopefully we won't have to replace him.

Russian team AK Bars Kazan is rumored preparing to make a $4 million salary to Montreal Canadiens forward Andrei Kostitsyn, a restricted free agent this summer.

I think he will stay. He has Sergei on Montreal and I think he loves the city. NHL > Whatever League That is.

Yeah, I get the feeling that Andrei's competitive nature and playing with his brother will keep him in the NHL...but, this could certainly impact the contract he gets with the Habs.

If he wanted to leave he would've left last year when he got cut before the season. He has stayed committed for the last 3 years and I read in the Canadiens magazine he plans on bringing his wife and kid over next year, add in Sergei signed for 2 more years and it's hard to believe he'd sign somewhere else.

Gainey could offer him a trial spot on 3rd line, which isnt bad if it's considered an attacking line (like when it was centered by Grabvs).

In order for the Habs to match that $4 million they would need to offer close to $7 million a season. The Russian offer is tax-free.

The Canadiens cannot financially compete with the Russian League.

Are you sure about that ?

Because OUCH if it's true . I like AK-46 but i wouldn't give him 7m a year , at least not yet.

It's okay but not special, points leaders.

8th for assists, but 9 goals is not even top 50 in the league...

Edit: considering he started hockey at around 17, that it is his first season in the SEL and that he only played in the Swedish Division 1 league or lower before (that's 2 level below the SEL), I think it's good even if he is 23.

Koivu is not in the top 50 for goals either, but still he is arguably a top five in the players we drafted in the last 15 years, only Ribeiro acheived more point in a season than him.

If the Red Wings get him he'll eventually become a star.

Brunnstrom got 37 points as a rookie with an average ice time of 12 minutes a game. Washington's Backstrom in the same league as a rookie got 40 points with double the ice time...that puts things into perspective a little.

Having said that Backstrom did it at a younger age

He won't have the same life he has here; he won't be playing with his brother; and if he continues on his career path there is the opportunity to be a superstar and earn more money down the road in north America. Becoming a 100 point man is not out of the question which would lead to a near max contract and whatnought.

Andrei will not forget that this is the organization that took a chance on him... This is the organization that stuck with him; drafted his brother as well.... This is also the team that solved his health problems when the doctors in Russia didn't know what to do.

I think he cares about being in the best league in the world and competing for the cup; he seems like that kinda personality. He'll stay and Gainey will give him a fair deal to do so.

Sounds to me like $, the usual answer. His agent's drumming up a market and teams have no choice but to play the game because they can't set the rules.

I'd rather replace Ryder with a Ryan Malone.
