They want to guarantee every team who is qualifiying for the Playoffs to have at least two games at home. Sold-out or good filled arenas give clubs a big financial boost.

Zecke, I think PrePlayoffs in best-of-five mode would be devastating. Look at the attendance numbers in those games. Clubs produce red numbers in these games, so that would be a real bad decision in my opinion. I think the Pre-Playoff concept isn't working here and it should be considered to get rid of it.

I would love to see best-of-seven in all Playoff series. Next year there are four regular season games less, perhaps they can work it out.

and no reason to be bitter. i must admit that lions really surprised me and (i hope no one reads this) enjoyed me. very good hockey and a lot of passion.
Might have to copy that response down

The reason the first round is best-of-seven is simply to get all those fans from 4 teams that are gonna be knocked out in the first round one more chance to buy tickets for their club's games. It's about money.

From a sporting aspect, it would be best to have the first round be best-of-five.

The Finals

I think one of the most obvious thing about these finals are that both of these teams have German players making HUGE commitments to their getting to the finals.

Whether its Lüdemann, Gogulla and Müller for Cologne or Ustorf, Busch, Hördler, Rankel and Weiss for Berlin, the good foreigners have excellent support coming from German players.

Should be a real good final, because these two teams have truly been the best in the playoffs. Neither has had lots of lucky bounces or the good fortune to play against a really beat up team.

The only reason to be bitter is game three. Not because of the goal waved off in OT... In this game they had the biggest opportunity to win and they did not convert 4 or 5 quality chances and many PP opportunities.

BTW, go Cannibals!!!

Talk about heart breaking...

Cologne ties game 3 with 46 seconds to go on a 6-on-4, only to get scored on 15 seconds later. Berlin now has a 2-1 lead in the series.

U-18 Team finishes 5th

Don't know if anyone has picked up on this, but the German U-18 team finished fifth in the U-18 tournament in Kazan. They had to beat Finland to do it.

That comes out to the best finish a German team has made in an A group in years.

Kassel won game 5 in OT. I am looking forward to two additional games with twice the security as usual...

You are right.
I should stop lump all husky fans together. Maybe there is light at the end of the tunnel.
I should not care any longer about being threatened and beaten up in the past.
I should look forward to four easy wins.
