Koivu was absolutely brilliant in the third period. If only he can organize the team to come out stronger at the start of the game. We have started so poorly in each game, against a team that we should be beating.
Kovalev has been awful IMO. PJ Stock's example during the second intermission of Kovalev coasting was accurate. He didn't seem to have the urgency that this team needed. Even after the Canadiens made it close, I thought Kovalev would have stepped up his game, but he was so passive that it was tough to watch.
I can honestly say I haven't been this frustrated in a long time. With the Bruins series I didn't feel like we played our best hockey so when we lost I gave the Bruins credit but this is just ridiculous. We've outplayed them the past 2 games and Biron & his crossbars have been the huge difference in this series. I'm confident still though.
This is simply a goaltending problem. Nothing more. You are not suppose to win hockey games with 14 shots on goal. Price has to give us a chance to win, I don't know what's wrong with him lately. Halak should get the start in game 3 but I don't know how that will affect Carey's confidence.
We'll be fine, I'm not worried at all. Flyers can't possibly win this series on pure luck, and that's the only way they could win this series because Montreal > Flyers based on talent, we just need to keep pressing and I believe we will now win the rest of the games.. easily I might add.
Kovalev was so passive that it was tough to watch.
His body language on the last penalty kill was atrocious. I know we were killing a penalty, and he doesn't have to forecheck nearly as deep as usual, but it looked like he was having a stroll on the beach for crying out loud.
Compare that to Mike Richard's efforts on the PK...
