I believe Philadelphia has a better package (Umberger + Carter)

If I'm Nashville I ask for Dubinsky as a starter and go from there.

It's not too bad value wise, but Dawes and Bourret are really both still prospects (although at least pretty good ones) and Prucha is....well.... I could pass on Prucha. I think the Preds would be more inclined to look for a single impact player, even if they had to give up something else. I do like the other proposal with Umberger and Carter a lot better, even though it would mean giving up a 1st round pick.

FWIW, a very respected source on np.com [reg dunlop] reported last night that Suter turned down a $3.2 mill x 3 yr offer from Poile.
There was no timeframe on when that offer was made or turned down......

Haven't we also heard rumors posted on there that Suter would not re-sign here if Trotz was brought back?

This will get interesting...

Ouch! That poster is usually spot on too. Honestly considering he has only played two full seasons with modest numbers I think this is a more than fair contract. I smell a offer this summer coming from another team .......

or maybe that's what he's hoping for.

3.5 seems more than enough from my position...

If he signed an offer sheet to play elsewhere, what would the compensation be for Nashville? I know there has been some discussion of what the compensation for Weber would be, but I haven't heard anything about compensaton for Suter.

Last season 3.2 was worth a 1st and a 3rd.

You can bet that if someone offers Weber/Suter an offer sheet, it will be for 5+ years. They aren't going to give up 2-4 first rounders, just for a 3 year contract.

I don't blame him for turning down a 3.2 X 3 offer. He probably wants a 1 year 3ish offer, or a 6 year 24ish million dollar offer. It is early in the negotiating process, but I suspect that the above offer is close to what he will end up accepting.

but if he's already turned down 3.2 the offer would have to be more.

There's a few discussions on the Bruins boards about getting defensive help. Are you guys looking for offensive help? Would a straight-up Kessel for Suter deal sound plausible to you guys?

While I like Kessel a lot, I feel like Suter is further in his development than Kessel is, so it would be taking a step backwards for us.

If you want to talk then I think Klein or Koistinen would be more fair even though Kessel's ceiling was higher.

You're just not gonna get fair value for him, IMO. He's too young with a lot of potential and not enough experience.

Kessel hasnt tapped his potential. But who knows what kind of player he will become. Does he have the desire? does he has the work ethic? that is what the boston managment questions. they know he has skill.

As for bostons need suter or weber would help D but boston primarly needs wingers. As of right now we have murray kobasew guys like that.

We would need radulov. we would probably have to trade hamill+first round pick plus a prospect.

We are still digging ourselves out of the Joe Thornton trade.

Predators (dmen) and Philly (forwards) seem to be good trading partners.

Would a Carter for Suter straight up work?

jeff CArter was 3rd line (and 7th-8th in icetime) most of the yr, until richards was injured. He soared with the increased ice time getting around 20 pts in the last 22 or so games. Has skated, scored and battled well in playoffs. He is a shooter, not a passer but has overachieved given his linemates. Has really come on this yr defensively and gets 1st unit PK and only gets 2nd pp time.

Or would there be a deal for your surplus dmen for RJ Umberger. A large body, still finding his physical game, but very good on both sides of the puck, has a great knack for "right time-right place" goals, although had far more assists this yr. Should be a 20 goal 30 assist guy soon. Klein and +?

I hope this deal will never happen.

I am fine with dealing Umberger plus for Suter.
