Well, Avery's out for the Rangers - so no more voodoo dances in front of the goalies...lacerated spleen, rumored to have been taken to the hospital in cardiac arrest. He'll recover, but is done for the season.

Wow, wonder who laid into him. Reminds me of what happened to Chris Simms after he played the Carolina Panthers, I believe. He wasn't the same after that.
Is there any other way for a spleen to get lacerated?

I could be wrong, but I think he took a puck to the abdomen.
I'm not joking about that, I'm joking that it wasn't accidental because of Avery's playing style and general behavior.
Naturally I don't really believe it was done intentionally.
But, of course, having to explain the joke robs it of humor. So nevermind.
I didn't take your post as trying to make light of the situation. While it's not and easy injury to go through and it takes him out for the remainder of his team's season, it's also not at all life threatening. It'd be one thing he had a Fischer-like ailment, but he doesn't.
I'm not at all someone to laugh or applaud someone who's injured, but I don't see what was said as being without couth, either.

I take offense to his avatar. It is an affront to squirrels and the letter "V"
And how about that Danny Briere? Philly was smart for acquiring his services.
i like the pens as well (though i was shocked at how easily the flyers dismissed the habs). i'm bucking the trend and picking dallas in the west, though.
That was definitely not a good decision to stay up so late and watch the Sharks/Stars game until it was over. I'm totally out of it here at work today It was a great game nevertheless.
