I would pass this one, I'm suspecting either bust or long term project for anyone signing him for big bucks.

Going to Detroit for a game as well.

Montreal maybe interested in him and offer him the money as well by letting obviously Ryder walk, but maybe Streit as well.

Plus Smoke isn't back next year, Chip has his spot.

I really wonder about this guy... everyone says he has great skills but doesn't have more points because he's playing limited minutes. If he's so good though, why the hell is he playing limited minutes in the swedish league? If he's good for 12 mins a game over there, can he play more than 8 here and get 20 pts a year? ><

Wasn't he like over 33 when he came though!

2001-02 Philadelphia Flyers NHL 52 11 16 27 8
2002-03 Edmonton Oilers NHL 21 1 5 6 11

Major difference.

This kid could be a Zetterberg, another near miss...but great find once again by Detroit.

hes talking about Zetterberg.

I would think he can only be signed to an entry-level deal that includes bonuses. No way we let Streit go, he will be re-signed. Also I would like to see Smolinski re-signed.

The Entry Level deal is right... 2 years... 2 way contract.

I hope we resign streit as long as its less than 3m/per year

I like Smoke in these playoffs.... but I think Chipchura is ready for that spot.

From the FAN590 in Toronto, they said Brunnstrom is looking at the Canadiens, Wings and Flyers as he considers them "depth" teams.

He wants to be part of a winning team that is young.
He was in Detriot yesterday and he's in Philly today. I have never heard of him until now. Anyone have a link on his scouting report?

P.S Andrei won't leave Montreal. There is no incentive for him to leave besides money. I think he'd rather stay for the health care, team, city, brother and soon to be family.

If he wanted to play in the AHL and develop their for a year i'd be all for signing him, but we have enough young forwards therefore i'd rather sign a top-six veteran forward with playoff experience instead of an unproven 22 year old.

That being said Timmins was very high on the kid and wants to sign him and Timmins has been right about many players...

Bruunstrom can't want to be part of a young, winning team and want a gaurentee of top 6 icetime.

He wasn't on the radar map for the NHL, but Detroit drafted him in 1999 - 7th round (210th overall) and the rest is history.

Same type of thing is happening with Brunnstrom, difference is he was undrafted.

Aren't entry level contracts for players that get drafted? Pretty sure this Brunnstrom kid is a UFA so he can sign for whatever his agent can get...

ummm, the signature is a quote, hence the name of the poster who said it after the quote.

Did I miss this Pelle Eklund announcement? Good that we have a Swedish scout. I think we have one in Russia and Czeckslovakia..do we have a Finnish scout??

I am thinking the team Brunnstrom chooses will really tell us alot about the kid. If he chooses VAN or TOR it says that playing on the top2 lines gaurantee is more important than winning. If he chooses a higher ranked team like DET/MON/DAL/PHIL then winning is more important to him. And how could he not like Montreal the best when he does his tour. The arena and fans are far more passionate than anywhere else. What an atmosphere he will experience in game 5 of the Hab series. Did I read somewhere that he wanted to play in Canada more ??

Brunnstrom down to 3 teams and Toronto is not on the list...is that really surprising?

http://www.sportsnet.ca/hockey/2008/...m_three_teams/

Montreal, Dallas, and Colorado

by the looks of these playoffs another european is the last thing they need. Plus brunstrom is overrated, why dont we go after a good ol hardnosed canadian kid this summer via free agency or by swinging a deal. one thing that i would consider this summer is maybe trading plekanec...hes been very ineffective in the playoffs.

who is he comparable to?

is he all finesse or can he throw his weight around?!

we could definetly use a guy with skill AND some GRIT...

Drag yourself out of your fog. Most of the best players on the Habs are Europeans. The last 4 goals scored against the Flyers were by Koivu and Plekanec. Most of the goals against the Bruins were by Kovalev and the Kostitsyns. You like hard-nosed Canadians? How about lamebrained Canadians like Bégin who screwed the Habs in 2 of their most critical games, namely, game 82 against Toronto last season and last night against the Flyers?

Bottom line for me is that if Timmins et co. think Brunnstrom is good enough to spend the money on, then I want him.
