Deslauriers

hey, kings fan here...
i'm just wondering if anything has been heard about the contract negotiations concerning Deslauriers. Is he re-entering the draft again? And if so, what would it take to trade him before he re-enters the draft? I konw the kings would love to have a guy like this in our farm.

I doubt the Oilers would trade his rights... if he re-enters the Oilers will probably pick him again, but I don't think it will get to that point.

I would surmise that your team will be using #11 overall in 2004 on Schwarz or Montoya. Deslauriers will be signed. The discussions have been very good.

If JDD was to re-enter the draft, what rank do you think he'd have?

would he be higher than any of Montoya or Shwartz? Dubynyk?

I've heard it said that Cam Ward and Jeff Deslauriers were the two best goalies in Junior Hockey this year... including Fleury and Harding who played for Canada. That considered, and also that they're AHL ready... you could make the argument that JDD might be the first goalie taken if he were to re-enter the draft (which I would be shocked to see happen).

I wouldn't want to guess where a guy with a couple extra years of development would go, and again, Dubnyk is my around 5th in my own goalie rankings....Montoya/Schwartz are almost a dead heat, Shantz third, Peters and Dubnyk and Schneider are all very close. Problem with Schneider is he was not against the highest level of competition so he will be tough to peg.

I believe that conventional wisdom would have JDD in the 2nd round. Generally speaking teams do not pick players earlier than when they were selected the first time. Although JDD had a good season, his stock has increased, but not to the point where he becomes a top 15 pick or anything.

lol, sure they'd trade him to you, then simply pick him again in the draft with their second first - they'd be smilin all the way....

but realisticly, JDD wouldn't be moved for bottom six forwards - we have enough to lend a couple to you and still have to many.

You are talking about a franchise that has one great goaltending prospect.(Mike Morrisson notwithstanding) Maybe you should give Buffalo a call.
