depends on the return... im voting for suter, but if all we get is draft pick(s) for him I won't be happy

suter is obviously better than klein, but he would get the best return

the reason I voted Erat, is because he's so freaking inconsistent as a Top 6 forward ... the most infuriating part is the amount of time he keeps his head down while cycling the puck ... I kinda hope he gets an offer sheet this summer and its not matched by Poile

I thought about that also. But he's one of the few top 6 forwards we have. If we lost Erat through an offer sheet, who could we put in our top 6? This forward FA class is very unspectacular and it's not like we have anyone in the pipeline to fill his spot..

Bingo, Erat is frustrating because he has soo much talent but he will never be a star. It is crucial to resign him however because of the very reason you said.

As far as the orginal question in a perfect world where money didnt matter I would say let Klein go as a RFA if I had to let someone go. Suter really started to come along the last half of the season and the playoffs. Basically if Suter WANTS to stay and s willing to sign a reasonable deal then hell ya resign him. If not trade him for a top 6 forward. Because while we don't have anyone as good as him yet waiting to take his spot we have capable replacements.

If we were able to replace Erat after we lost him, then I'd vote for Erat. But I know that we wouldn't, so unfortunately he's better then what we have.

I'll have to go for Klein on this one, although really he shouldn't be on this list imo. I don't think he is one of the players who endangers our ability to re-sign other players.

We would definetly replace Erat...with FIDDLER.

We cant afford to lose him.

Klein has to go.

It's not so much that I'd rather have Klein than Suter. It has more to do with the fact that Suter can bring us a top 6 forward in a trade. If we were to trade Klein, the best we might get would be (very optimistically) a 3rd rounder, a 3rd-4th liner, or an iffy prospect. Besides, there's several more defensemen in the pipeline behind Klein, some of whom will probably overtake him in the next 2 or 3 years.

I would love to see Rolston in a Preds sweater if the price were right.

He's over 35 and on the decline of his career. Plus he'll demand a salary over $4M/year, probably for at least 3 years. This team can't afford to gamble like that.

I voted for Suter because Klein is unproven and we get probably nothing but a risky prospect or pick for him and we need forward/scoring help NOW. We should sign Erat to a 1-2 yr deal as a bridge until someone emerges to replace him (prospect or pick). Yes, he has flaws and has frustrated me also, but we can't easily fill that gap with value right now, and I would rather fill that slot with a young-ish winger with size and scoring ability.

Yes, unlikely, but I can dream, right?

Suter. Mainly because what he would bring in return, and honestly, Klein's game isn't that much different than Suter. I see Suter more prone to the bad pass/giveaway in our own zone, while Klein is slightly less of an offensive threat than is Suter.

The third I will agree is a pipe dream. The first two.....well only because Poile is the general manager.

Seriously?

Klein is a great skater but other than that, Suter does everything way better than Klein.

I think it is fair to say we haven't seen enough of Klein to know one way or the other, for sure, but I've always felt his upside was going to be more (hunch, more than anything). That, with the fact that Suter will bring more in terms of a player/pick is my reasoning.

While I like the fact that Suter carries the puck up the ice better than almost everyone on the team, I voted for him just for the fact of what he could potentially bring back in a trade. As others have said, Klein would probably only get us a draft pick which I think is an underpayment for Klein.
