OT - Stars vs. Sharks anthem singing (booing?)

Just watching game 5. Is it just me, or did anyone notice the crowd booing at two distinct occasions, as if it were the Canadian anthem? Didn't get it (obviously it was just the single American one).

Only thing i can think of is if they were showing something Dallas-related on the jumbotron, but why would you (it would be the lyrics)?

Also, they showed the Dallas bench and while everyone else had the solemn concentrated demeanour, Ribs was smiling like a dumbass as usual. Can't beleive he used to be my favourite player. Just a side note, not trying to start a Ribs thread. So any idea what they were booing at?

Also, who's winning this game? GWG?

again, not a thread about who is classless or not, just confused.

I dunno if you were kidding or not, but that is a really astute observation, totally slipped my mind. If that IS the reason, one could write a thesis on the irony of that situation and yet another example of the much discussed inappropriateness of anthem singing (apparently not serving its intended purpose...which is...well i dunno)

I wonder if Oh Canada had the word "leaf" or "sen" in it, how we'd react, you know us classless Molsen ex zone dwellers. One thing that annoys me is that so many (even in Canada) people keep calling us the Canadians (again an ironic mistake considering the French origins of the club and relevance of the E).

In Dallas they cheer when the word "Stars" is sung. That's why the booing happens.

The crowd has done this for years now. Home and away.

In Dallas they give an extra cheer for the 2 times "star" is sung.

"...broad stripes and bright STARS..." & "... say does that STAR spangled banner..."

But controversy is nice so keep rollin'.

I didn't make the connection cuz it's such a ridiculous reaction, it's so infantile that it flew under my radar. I didn't know the precedent of the Stars cheering harder when a single word was sung, wonder if that would have happened in Minnesota, or maybe they'd cheer our anthem when they heard North.

Well, he got a goal now! Great shot. I do think the disallowed goal was a good call. What does being able to see the puck or intention have to do with it (or does intention matter). His foot did follow through, admittedly unintentionally, to push it in.

K...after seeing that again, I retract my view. I still think it was unfortunate that his foot was in a "drag" (as they are saying on the panel) as much as it's unfortunate that a goal would go in like that. I guess i'm just bitter about all the crappy Philly goals...

also...did you guys just hear that...Ribs over Thornton. Not complaining, just baffled, amazed at how much he has elevated his game. I agree though, Thornton looks useless, just like last time he faced Ribs in the playoffs.

Wow, Morrow has been huge in this game (if Pierre was commentating, def the Monster). Just the type of playing we need from our boys (who are capable). Also reminded me that he is Carbo's son in law. Quick google search, damn, Anne-Marie is hot.

Those were Ribeiro's classless Habs fan relatives in the audience. Even when the Habs aren't playing, they just can't help themselves. Booooooo!
