I'm not overly mad about this. I'm very optimistic for next season, our Centennial!

Game Takes: See you next year, Groundhog Day

The series in a nutshell:

Latendresse takes a brilliant breakout pass, disorganizes the Flyers D, fires a perfect shot that beats Biron and rings the puck off the post.

Just after, there's an ungodly lob bounce in the Habs' zone that ends up on a Flyers' stick, he shoots, it's deflected off Kostopoulos, tipped by a Flyer, and in.

Analysts will look left and right for explanations, try to blame this on goaltending (the Flyers' and the Habs'), on grit, on opportunism, they will flounder to look for an explanation... but in the end, even though all of these may have been factors, my conclusion is this: the Hockey Gods decided it was not to be.

It was the first time the Habs lost four games in a row, and they played well enough to win at least three of them, if not all four. What can you do?

Kudos to the Flyers for being opportunistic... but I can't feel unhappy with the Habs' effort, just frustrated.

I just want to say I love this team, and in all my years of watching sports I have never felt more connected to any team. This team is going places and I am not ashamed to admit it, watching Koivu lead the handshake left me in tears. This team did not quit once this year. They have the heart of a champion and I don't care how many times PJ Stock says it, this team does have grit and they will fight for everything. They ran into a hot goalie and got a little unlucky, but this team has arrived. Congratulations to the Flyers, and best of luck to them in the Conference Finals. I'd also like to say I was wrong about Price. I wanted Halak in the 3rd, and Price rebounded marvelously. Made several key saves to keep the game tied and the goal that was scored was a total fluke. Once again, thank you Habs. This was a dream season and I will look forward to next season with more excitement than ever before!

A really tough ending to swallow, but this has been an unbelievable season by a team that few even picked to make the playoffs. There is no doubt in my mind that this team comes back better next season.

THANK YOU HABS!

This is by far the best season i witnessed as a fan.

The experienced they gained this year will prove valuable for next year. My love for Kovalev reached a new high and i look forward to next season.

Price has proved to be the real thing and ready to take over his first full season as no. 1 of the greatest hockey Franchise in the world.

The Montreal Canadiens puzzle is almost complete, Gainey will put the final pieces in place during the summer, and the real Drive for 25 will start next year. With captain Koivu at the helm and Kovalev having his best season in career (well i hope)

See you next year guys

Habs 4 ever

It was a nice ride and i don't think anyone expected this from us. We are still a young team learning the basics and we will improve. I am not really angry since i never expected us to win the cup in the first place. It still sucks getting eliminated but we have a bright future in front of us and there are better things to come.

That said we need to add some sandpaper/character in the offseason since we saw in the playoffs in it's clearly one of our flaw . It shouldn't be too hard with the departure of guys like Smoke , Breezer , Ryder ect since it will create space on the cap and on the roster.

Even though this series didn't turn out quite the way that I had hoped. I'm still very proud of our team.

They over came the odds of not only making the playoffs, but winning the conference. I know that probably doesn't mean anything at the moment.

But in a couple of days, I think we can all look back and smile and be happy. But for right now, by all means....be pissed off.

Dont worry guys, we can still love this team. We had players come straight out of junior, straight out of AHL, leading us. We still have more players coming, it's not over yet.

Ill be moving closer to the bell center this off season, probably in walking distance. I will be there when times get rough, and for the good times, to cheer for this team.

Congrats to the Habs for a great season. A humble year last year as well and had a great improvement not a whole lot of people expected. This is going to be a great team next year, maybe we'll do it again in the 2009 conference finals

I'm all right too. It just wasn't meant to be. Losing to the Bruins would have been terrible, but losing to the Flyers doesn't have the same sting. Considering where they were picked to finish, they've been playing with house money for a long time.

Go Habs in 09

The Habs had an awesome regular season that ended with some disappointment in the playoffs.

Nevertheless, it was a great ride. Keep your heads up.

I will be happy with this season only if we can stay at this level or improve in the future.

One more year that this is Kovalev's team?

Thanks, the Sabres and their fans are my favourites in our division, it's not even close.
