Like I said in the playoff series thread ... this is the first of several of these playoff series the two franchises will be playing in the next few years.

Good luck in your centennial season next year.

Yeah for sure man.
If the 1st Round was any indication of the kind of games we can expect from these two teams, then we're both in for some good hockey.

to the Canadiens for a great season.
Thanks! And good luck to you guys, great effort and best of luck!

Montreal is one hell of team, scary fast and skilled. And SO young. They are gonna be a great team next year too.

The Habs played great. I really didnt think they had it in them to even rank as high as they did. I thought they would be in the middle of the pack. But you guys put up a fight for sure. You definitely have a very young and talented team with both Kostitsyn's, Latendresse, and Price (will be an amazing goalie in the years to come). I see your team going far just about every year from now on granted injuries dont take that big a toll on them. Thanks for a great series guys.

Thanks guy, we are happy with our season but a bit disappointed now. Good luck to the Flyers in the ECF.

But I thought we were:

- Classless
- Gutless
- Arrogant
- Eat babies

Yeah I really think that Richards/Carter/Umberger learned a lot in 05-06 even if they only play 5 playoffs games.

Hell of a series, could have been a lot different depending on a couple of bounces. Good luck next year.

So, guys have been hating on eachother non-stop until the last match, and then like teams getting down for the hand shakes, its now an all out classy love-fest ?

Wow.

Big props to Philly though. A well played series where they did everything right in adversity and shone when on top. Hope to confirm the in state bonanza tonight.

Even the Sens and Bruins fans haven't been bad. It's kinda freaky.

As people have said before Montreal is a young team and sometimes that's forgotten by some. This will be a painful lesson and they will be much, much better for it. I expect them to be even better next year and that's a pretty scary thought.

congrats to the Habs on an excellent season and playoffs. While i think you all deserved at least a game 7, it was exciting nonetheless.

For 29 teams the season ends at least a tad sourly, this one is pretty bitter for this Habs fan despite such a successful season. It was a great regular season, hopefully this young team learns a lot from these 12 playoff games about what it means to play in the playoffs.

congrats to both teams. the flyers did a spectacular job of making the most of their chances and rebounding after a rough end to game 1. very impressive all around.

That's exactly how I see it. I think that you have to lose in order to win. This is a young core that exceeded everyone's expectations. I have confidence we'll be in the mix for quite some time.

Job well done Philly, congrats for the series win. Best of luck the rest of the way!

Congrats to the Flyers on a great series as well...

Considering this was a last place team a year ago, I'd say making it to the ECF is a pretty big sucess as well

Man was I impressed by their fans-I expect every fanbase to cheer a little after their team has been eliminated, but the second Knuble iced it with the EN goal the Habs fans were congratulating their team-their wasn't that usual bitter silence, it was just gratitude and respect. Thanks for a good series and good luck next year.

If someone from the future were to tell me that the Habs would lose in these playoffs, I would have wanted them to accomplish certain things in light of their little playoff experience:

1. Win a playoff series - Beat Boston in 7 - Done
2. Face Adversity - Took Boston (and probably Philly which cost them) too lightly - Done
3. Experience a Game 7 - See no. 1 - Done
4. Experience the most hostile arenas - Boston/Philly Home crowds - Done
5. Become aware of the physicality of Playoff Hockey - Boston/Philly, two of the more physical teams in the league - Done

Hopefully these lessons taken in this year will carry over to their next playoff run.

If there is anything that I really bugged me before coming into these playoffs is the expectation put upon this team after capturing the top seed of the Eastern Conference during regular season.

I always felt like Home ice advantage was only "truly" an advantage for seasoned playoff teams. Which was obviously not the case for this team.

It also feeds the trolls with ammunition to try to tarnish the success that was the Montreal Canadiens 2007-2008 season.

Thank you to all level headed posters who can take off the homer goggles and acknowledge the accomplishments and surpassing of all pre-season (including my own) expectations by the Montreal Canadiens.
