I'm not saying Latendresse has no value, but I don't see him cracking the top 2 lines for the next few years. I vote for a 2nd rounder.

He'll play with Koivu next year because we are going to ice three offensive minded lines.

Higgins/Chipchura will reign the third line with a UFA like Brunette.

If he doesn't pick up his game I could see him losing his spot entirely. Didn't they give him a special number that wasn't used before? Hopes a little high hey?

Why not put Sergei on the third to get a third line that can shutdown, play with an edge and still have very good offensive upside?

Keep the UFA money for top line players. I know we need more size and grit, but why not acquire skilled size and grit.

Absolutely nothing!!!!

Latendresse has very little value. What has he done so far in his career? He has been a healthy scratch a number of times because he won't play like he is capable of and he hasn't exactly tore up the scoresheet either.

He is a decent young prospect with some potential because of his size, but nothing more than that.

He'd fetch much less than he's worth to the Habs, and trading him would be a ridiculous mistake.

The blind Latendresse hate on these boards is ridiculous, and I don't understand why such a great young player is being so unfairly maligned on here.

The fact is that Latendresse has been great this season, and really has no problems that better icetime with better linemates couldn't fix.

The guy has been one of the Habs' most productive scorers, relative to icetime, for two years running. Giving him power play time and real offensive-minded linemates and he produces.

That he was able to get so many even-strength goals while being confined to spot duty speaks volume about his ability.

I don't think he's got too much value at this point.

So Latendresse is better offensively than Higgins? It doesn't look that way.

He is.

Higgins is just on the ice more often, and on the PP to boot. In terms of goals per icetime, Lats has Higgins beat. And Latendresse is much younger than Higgins. And Higgins is no slouch.

Higgins is a better two-way player, but Lats' defensive play has improved by leaps and bounds this season.

The local McDonalds restaurants in Montreal won't be happy to see him go.

Absolutely no reason to trade him for picks. He has much more value for us right now than he has on the trade market.

Actually he's a Habs fan.

As for the question, it's still way too early to give up on Lats just yet. Personally this year I would have liked to have seen him play in Hamilton. The kid is not the same player he was when he first came up.

I don't know if it's a confidence issue or what. But he's got to get it back soon or he'll be another player with "great potential" falling to the waste side.

Yup, sadly he won't ever be able to play in the A and develop his play in the same way.

of course, when you play with smokes and kostopoulos or Lapierre and Dandenault, you have to chip offensively?

Give him go ice time with an offensive center or with a 2 ways center and you'll see better things

are you kidding? A pick for Latendresse?

Hes 20! Let him develop before saying we should trade for a pick. He could be a very useful player for the Habs in years to come given his size.

I'm not talking about his offensive play ya smartass

He's not playing with the chip on his shoulder like he did when he came up. I haven't had a problem with his abilities, we all know he's a slow skater.

But ever since that hit against the tampa player, *can't remember his name* Lats has not been the same player.
