Steven Anthony

Some people think he has 80 point potential next season in the QMJHL unless he plays in the NCAA (I dunno which one he will be playing in)

Has anyone seen him play?

I want to know

Is he fast?
Is he a good forechecker?
Is he a playmaker?
Is he a good hitter?
Is he good two-way?
Is he a good scorer?
Is he going to go in the 1st round in 09?
Is he going to get around 50-100 points next season?

You know all the stuff, can anyone give me some info on this player

Didn't he already sign/play in the Q? If so he loses his NCAA eligibility.

Yep for the St. John Ice Dogs. He's a fourth liner there. Great talent but there's questions about his work ethic.

Are you talking about this Steven Anthony? He's already playing in the QMJHL this year, hasn't seen a lot of ice time, and is thus, not producing offensively right now. But he will get more ice time next year so who knows. I've never seen him personally but if he's a 1st-round pick of the QMJHL draft, he's got potential to be in the NHL, unless of course, his development stagnates or turns out to be a total bust...who knows.

I see why his stats suck, he is a 4th liner

I guess he has real bad attitude. He would have gone higher in the QMJHL draft if he didn't hint at a college route (only for teams to realise he was just trying to get drafted by a more competative team). He is a studly-good baseball player; could be the other side of the Tom Glavine coin.

Next season I think management in St. John will give Anthony a higher position on the depth chart, and maybe more than like 8 minutes a game.

Other Q players would be MacAusland, another 4th liner with tremendous talent. Sadly he's only 5'6".

Has anyone seen him play?

I want to know

Is he fast? Not incredibly fast, but he skates well
Is he a good forechecker? idk
Is he a playmaker? idk
Is he a good hitter? he can hit, but he doesn't seem like an enthusiastic hitter
Is he good two-way? idk
Is he a good scorer? idk
Is he going to go in the 1st round in 09? all depends on how he does next season, he hasn't shown much this year due to limited ice time, and considering the depth next year's draft supposedly has, he'll probably have to have a hell of a season to be considered for the first round. Right now I'd put 5 QMJHL players ahead of him, possibly 6.
Is he going to get around 50-100 points next season? Again, idk, he hasn't been able to show much at all this season, so it's really hard to tell what his potential is.

You know all the stuff, can anyone give me some info on this player
He's played very sparingly, so it's really tough to get a beat on this kid. I'm sure he has talent, but he hasn't really been able to show it this year. Hopefully next year he plays in the Sea Dogs' top six and wows a lot of people, would be a nice story.

I remember Anthony being pimped as a potential #1 overall pick in the 2009 NHL Draft. Well, maybe after Tavares. But this was as recent I believe as 2006. Then again Patrice Cormier got the same kind of love for 2008 and we saw how that turned out.

Is he fast? He was about average Q speed as a 16, and should improve in the offseason.
Is he a good forechecker? He seemed to forecheck harder when playing with guys like Brett Gallant (enforcer), and Mike Thomas (energy, hitter).
Is he a good playmaker? He seemed to be but got extremely limited minutes with top 6 players.
Is he good two-way? Yes, he was forced to work on d all year.
Is he a good scorer? He seemed to be any time he got the puck in a scoring position.
Is he going to go in the 1st round in 09? All depends on how much he develops this offseason.
Is he going to get around 50-100 points next season? This depends on his role. If he plays 3-4th line, 40 points would be great. If he plays top 6, then he should be somewhere in that range.
