Hey, the Leafs board is a few clicks away.

Plekanec was one of our best forwards in our last 6 games.

Pleky and Higgy are going nowhere; they are good players that a lot of teams would like to have in their rosters

Latendresse has great potential and is only 20. A Powerfoward takes a lot more time to develop than any regular foward.
The guy has been in and out of the lineup throughout the year, jumps from one line to the next, gets very limited ice time, and still manages to score 16Goals. There's no way Gainey is letting either player go, unless its for a really big name player but i strongly doubt it.

Latendresse will become very dominant over the next years. Having him and Pacioretty will be very beneficial to us.
I agree, a Higgins/SKost line centered by Chipchura would be one helluva 3rd line. Drop Lapierre down to play with Begin and Kosto would make an interesting 4th line (I doubt Smoke will be back).

Streit as a forward and power play specialist wouldnt be bad at 2. As a Dman he is awful

Sergei Kostitsyn is nothing short of a first liner. He'll grow stronger and must play top-line minutes. He's our future star.

Ryder...definitely gone. Given that he was a healthy scratch as we were being eliminated strongly suggests management is done with him.

Brisebois stays as 7th D.

Streit and Dandy are not defensemen.
Emelin is not coming over.
Carle, Weber, Valentenko need to play so they will be in Hamilton.
Subban, Mcdo, Fischer are not turning pro.

Yeah, pretty big di8fference between having Bonk/Johnson as linemates and Plekanec/Kovalev.

He has good potential, but I don't see him legitimately on a 1st line. He's a notch below his brother.

These are the guys I see gone:

Ryder (walks as UFA)
Smolinski (not asked back)
Brisebois (not asked back)
Streit (walks as UFA)
Dandenault (buyout or traded for a 114th round pick)
Grabovski (either traded or signs in Russia)

Totally agree. Some people on here have incredibly short memories, saying Kovy is s***, Price is c***, TK is useless, Cube needs to be traded. When Cube was injured, everyone said he was amazing and couldn't wait until he was back and would be one of the missing pieces in our playoff campaign, now people are saying he needs to be traded

only dandy needs to be traded.

I would be shocked if any of the following players came back to play next season with montreal:

Ryder
Smolinski
Streit
Brisebois

Streit has said numerous times that he wants to play defense and not forward. There is no way that the Habs guarantee him a spot on the blueline, so that's why I expect him to go elsewhere.

Valentenko- play the point for the 'Dogs and will presumably do so in Montreal *eventually*. Even if he does make the team next season (I think he'll do what O'Byrne did this year, start in Hamilton and get called up at some point), I'm not sure Carbo will want a rookie playing the point on the PP. He also shoots L, although the one time I saw the 'Dogs play, IIRC he was playing the right point.

Komi- if we put him on the point, there absolutely has to be someone (Gui?) who will go to the net and try for rebounds, because Komi tends to either shoot at the goalie's crest or else miss the net by a good foot. I noticed there were times this season when Carbo was putting him on for the last :30 or so of power plays, so I wouldn't be shocked to see him on the second unit at some point.

Hamrlik- he shoots left, so not ideal for the right point, but not out of the question I suppose.

Kovalev- I think he's more effective down low

S. Kostitsyn- the usual drawbacks of having a forward, and a 21-year-old forward at that, play the point

Between Valentenko, Subban, and possibly McDonagh, I think we're going to be set on point men for awhile if we can get through the next season or two. Brisebois, or anyone else we signed in free agency, would just be a stopgap measure.
A Left hand shot on the right point is preferable for the powerplay.

I think Ryder, Dandenault and Smokes will be gone. They just didn't bring enough to the team all season long....we can do without them.

I think Streit will be back and I could see Brisebois coming back as well. I don't care for Breezer, but the guy did play decent in the playoffs for us. If he is used correctly and keeps things simple he can be effective.

I think those are the only guys that will be gone from the team. Everyone else will re-sign IMO.

ryder -- walk

dandy+grabo try to trade

smokes did well in the playoffs and down the stretch, and his experience and leadership are welcome, but i think chips will be up next year, and theat would leave little room for smokes unless he moves to wing. but i think he will be let go..

breezebois was commendable AT TIMES during the playoffs, when he was not scoring on his own net.. and same points about experience and leadership. he could be back next yr, but i would not want to see him play that many games. i would prefer if he retired

striet, well he was a dissapointment during playoffs, but surprise 60 points on the year. i doubt he repeats that, but i would take him back for the right price.

halak keep him, let him battle with price and see how it goes, i like him, he has good potential, but i do feel that a vetran backup might be a better option

Higgins chips and skost would be an awsome 3rd line!
