I'd like Hossa the most, but players like Sundin, Jagr, or Huselius couldn't hurt either.

Brunette or Rolston would be a nice addition. Experience with a good scoring touch is a good combo and both of those guys have it.

Whichever UFA Gainey goes after, I hope he doesn't throw them ridiculously long term contracts. I trust him and I really doubt he would go down that path, but if he gets caught up in a bidding war with other teams, you just never know how the deal could escalate. I don't want to hear TSN reporting the Habs sign someone for an 8 year deal. I've been telling my friends since the middle of the season that Gainey should narrow in on a player like Jagr...Top 5 talent in the NHL, wouldn't have to sacrifice our future for him, I think he wants to play for a team he has a good chance at winning the cup with, if we offer big time money it won't have to be a long term commitment at his age, probably a 2 or 3 year deal shall get it done, it will be our centennial anniversary so that can come as a bargaining point, we could also use his playoff experience.

I think we need a character player to show the younger ones what it takes. Kovalev is not the one, but Koivu is ideal (I know we have Koivu, but we could use more guys like him)

1.Rolston - Best fit IMO

2. Avery - Love him or hate him, the kid can play. I just wouldn't want to pay what he's asking for.

3. Jagr - I know he's getting older, but seeing Jagr's name on the back of a Habs jersey would be a dream come true for me.

Rozsival. I like him in Streit's place on the PP and he's better defensively.

There isn't a whole lot in the upcoming UFA market that I find all that interesting really.

Rolston, Fedorov, and Kelly in that order.

I don't really like the defensemen this year.

I'd go with Rolston and Campbell, but since the latter one will surely command the moon and the stars, I'd settle for Rolston only.

I voted Rolston, but I don't know. Hossa would be quite amazing as well.

Hossa is one of those players that would make us look good on paper but im not sure he is what we need. We got plenty of good young wingers on the way up so we need to add a bit more dept at the center position. I like Sundin and think he would be a great fit with the rest of the european talent we have. I can see him come in here and have instant chemestry with the other guys. Its probably not going to happen because he is a leaf. My second choice would be Rolston. I think hes a guy Caroneau type of player.

What amount is Rolston expected to garner?

He's always been one of my favorite players, a big boy who skates as beautifully as anyone else ever has; it would be immense to see him in the jersey but knowing the collective luck of Hab fans, it's just a dream and nothing more.

Why do they need to go and sign ANY FA this summer?

The main core of players they have is good enough, and if they make a solid trade, or two, they will be fine.

No need to sign any FA this summer at all Bob, just make the needed adjustments via trade

I chose Campbell because I think the playoffs showed a bit of weakness on our D and Campbell has shown he can be a difference maker on both ends of the ice. He's got one of the best outlet passes and would really solidify our Top 4 and could replace Streit and we can let him walk.

Beyond Campbell, I really like Rolston and Brunette, Shanahan (though he is getting old and slowing down) and Avery.

I've always felt the same way about Rolston, I wanted the Habs to make a push a few years back when he signed with Minny. He is getting older now but still has a rocket of a slapper and would be a great fit replacing Streit on the right point of the PP. I have no idea how much he could get in this tight free agent market salaries could be huge. I would think he would get anywhere between 3.5 - 5 for 3-4 years, but that's just a guess.

Sundin is the best player on that list. Although not the most likely to be available.

I agree, I think that is why he is being over looked by a lot of posters...myself included.

The thing about Brunette is that he is a LW, we've already got a ton of them...
Higgins
A. Kost
S. Kost
Lats
Begin
Stewart
Pacioretty

and Hossa is going to cost a lot more that Rolston. When considering Rolston I think the bigger issue is term. I wouldn't mind the Habs paying him a lot of money as long as its 2 to 3 years.

I voted for Hossa because he is a impact superstar talent. A guy that makes us a contender right away. He would bring much more depht to our offence and make everyone around better, starting with kovalev who would'nt have all the checkers of the other teams on him.

A defenceman for Hamrlik and to solidifies our defence corp would be great. In the playoff, it showed we could have used a top 4 D-man of extra. But the problem with going after Rozsival for example(who would also be my 1st choice) is that he will cost around 5mil$ for a 4 to 5 years contract, with Komisarek to re-sign there is just so much we can spend on defence. Lots of Kids are also coming in the next 2-3 years if not faster.

Rolston would be great too but I don't know if he would come here. probably not a big fan of the Habs since his days with Boston but that might mean nothing. Getting old too, lenght of the contract might become a issue for us.
