Not to sound ignorant, but I don't know many of the other sports in Canada. What sports do you guys usually watch during the hockey off season? Baseball? CFL?

I personally don't follow baseball since the Expos left, I watch the CFL but I don't particularly care if my team wins or loses...so in all hockey is my only big time sport.

For me..

World Championships/NBA playoffs (every now and then)/ CFL Playoffs
Then when summer comes along I go outside..then the draft and July 1st...then back outside.

Then when I hibernate back to my room in mid-September, the countdown begins

CFL mostly,i used to love baseball but we got stiffed out our team by the Big wigs so no joy there.

I also enjoy perfecting my diving skills. I dive at the same facility that the Habs get their diving lessons.

There are no good sports in the summer. F1 is alright but other than that there's nothing. CFL is garbage compared to the NFL; I'm sorry but it has a second-tier league feel to it.

Fixed

I love football and watch the CFL, but jesus this league is disappointing sometimes.

I hear the guys here talk more about the NFL than the CFL, actually. I think Formula 1 racing is more popular in Canada than in the US- I rarely hear it mentioned anywhere but HFBoards.

I'm American and my dad is a big Minnesota Twins fan, so I watch a few of those games with him, but baseball usually starts to bore me after five or six innings. I'm planning to watch a little NBA this afternoon- not a big basketball fan either, but I was born in New Hampshire and have a soft spot for the Celtics.

Mostly I'll wait until reports from NFL minicamps start coming out. In July I usually drive up to Albany with my dad to watch a few days of training camp- we're huge Giants fans. We listen to the preseason games on the radio, and most years there's at least one on TV.

Oops, did I just admit to someone from Philadelphia that I'm a Giants fan?

I miss the Expos.

I was actually a big fan, except i was too young to do anything about it.
Back then i would go to a few games a year with my grandfather. But the main problem was that the Big O was just sooo Far, and in a dead corner of a city.

When i became old enough (2002), had my own car and such, well they were already on the decline and things were really looking bad.
Now, i drive 5 days a week near the Big O as i work in that area.

Lary Walker baby!!! Still my favorite all time Expo.

Now during summer.... Play street hockey regularly, and tennis. And in a few ball hockey leagues... Nothing really to watch on TV as i Can't stand any other sport.

Oh yeah, can't wait for the Olympics

I'm really happy that we managed to get this far at least. Last year was especially heartbreaking because of all the time in between (plus last years elimination was a million times worse than this one). I just have a little over a month of school left and then can waste my summer doing nothing. WOO! GO HABS GO!

I think we all do different things. This year we're lucky as Euro 2008 and the Olympics are taking place, but last year I watched baseball in the off season and the FIFA U20 World Cup, and before that there was the FIFA World Cup, etc. I used to have a casual interest in the Red Sox, but I'm a little more serious about them now.
Plus F1 is fun to watch, especially the weekend it happens here.
(Absolutely no NASCAR for me, though. EW.)

I watch the CFL and F1 during the off-season, but with no where near as much interest as the NHL.

Can't wait until next season already!

Other than the draft and FA period, I guess I'll watch some Olympics (but I prefer the Winter ones, more interesting to me for some reason)... CFL I don't think I've ever been able to make it through a full game (or even a full quarter)... baseball is dead to me since the Expos left.

Summer is for blockbuster movies, beer on a terrace in the evening, barbecue, and sitting around outside with friends shooting the ****.

You know we're all Habs fans here on this forum but it's going to get ugly during Euro 08 with people cheering for different teams...

Living in Montreal, bird watching is fun too But that's about it.

edit: I will follow Euro '08 though and F1 if I am still up whenever the hell the races are because there's no way I'll actually wake up in time for them.
