Draft order

The Habs will have the following picks, although comp picks could throw off the order, I haven't heard of any comp picks for this draft yet. So unofficially we will be picking,

1st round-25th overall
2nd round- 55th
3rd round- 85th
4th round- 115th
7th round- 205th

4th round-145th to the sharks for the rivet deal
5th round- 175th to the stars in the ribeiro deal

So it's 45 days away from the draft, as the playoff sting starts to go away, it will be time to get amped up for one of the best times in hockey, the draft. Although it's hard to get too excited with only 1 pick in the top 50, Timmins and his staff have been picking some interesting players and I expect that to continue despite the lack of picks and our draft position.

Are the Habs getting the 25th overall pick because they had the 2nd best regular season record among the 8 losers in the 2nd round?

Because they had the 2nd best regular season record among the losers in the 2nd round that finished first in their division. (Was 94 pts, Min 98 pts, Mtl 104 pts, SJ 108 pts)

I don't like us having only five pick in this year draft....

since Gainey became GM we had

2003: 11 picks
2004: 9 picks
2005: 7 picks
2006: 6 picks
2007: 9 picks

Partly this is the price we pay for having 2 first rounders last year (to SJ), which is fine and partly it's a little more salt in the wound that is Ribiero/Niinimaa, which is not fine at all.

He could well make a move or two on draft day.

I would be a happy person if we can get Joe Colborne with the 25 pick and can get either Zac Dalpe or Corey Trivino with the 55 pick.

Well, im not too worried about our depth to be honest. We still have good offensive depth, MaxPac, Chipper, D'Agostini..
You also have to think that with are huuuge depth on D, it's bound that some trades will happen for either picks/prospects/roster players..

So im fine with where we stand.

I agree, I'm not too worried about our depth, aside from the goaltending area. Next year we will see the organziation restock the farm, so we will start to get a better feel for the next round of prospects, as Maxwell, White (if signed), Wyman, and Weber should all be rookies, with Trotter getting his first full season as a pro. With Valentenko and Carle as 2nd year players and the following year guys like McDonagh, Subban and Paquet should be rookies with the dogs while adding in Pacioretty to one of those groups and hopefully Emelin at some point.

That said if Timmins can pull off another Pacioretty like pick in the 1st round, and perhaps another interesting player or two as he's done in each draft. Next year should be a great draft, so hope to see them try and add some picks or move up in the draft if possible.

Draft picks

Any trades or other inventive ways that BG could pick up a few picks(even if low) for Trevor?
