And I thought I was a big Mikhnov fan!!!

So I'm picking up some chips at the Whyte ave and 109 st. Safeway, at the first intermission of the CAL/SJ game.

And what do I see in the line next to me?

Someone wearing a HC Sibir jersey, with Mikhnov on the back (in Russian).

True commitment. I guess I can't be sure I'm the biggest Mikhnov fan around anymore, but awesome to see nonetheless!!!

Dude, that was me! We were trying to figure out why that guy was staring at us, but I guess it was for a good reason. It was a bit of a ***** to get, I tells ya.

*edit*
Of course, now that he's moved on, I just have to count on nobody noticing that it's the wrong team.

I was really hoping to get it autographed at training camp. I think I would have gotten an odd look out of him. Next year...

LOL

I looked at it, and was like " No, it can't be, impossible"

looked back, and was like "yup, that's a Mikhnov jersey".

Then I thought "How weird that I know whoes that jersey is?"

I was gonna ask you where you got it from, but I decided that would be strange, so didn't.

Where'd you pick it up from? Did you buy it from a Sibir site?

Sniff... My old Safeway. Brings back some high-priced memories.

They're authentic, and only $74.95 US, plus shipping. Not a bad deal, but it took three months to get here on a credit card order.

It's an odd jersey. The pattern, and even the name and number, are dyed right into the cloth, instead of screening or patches. I don't know how they do it, but I've washed it 6 or 8 times, and it still looks as bright as when I got it.

No. Everything is dyed directly into the fabric. Part of the reason shipping takes so long is that every jersey has to be custom made. There used to be a detailed descripton of the process on their site, but it doesn't seem to be there anymore.

There's a pretty clear picture there, too, if you care.

I have a Sergei Fedorov CSKA practice jersy that's like that too. Pretty smart idea, although the production of them must cost a fortune.

You'd think so, but this jersey cost less than 1/3 of what an authentic NHL jersey would cost, and I don't think the NHL markup is THAT high.
