Patric Hornqvist

He scored two goals in his first game at the Worlds. The only younger player on Sweden's roster is Backstrom, and he made the team while the much-hyped Brunnstrom didn't.
What kind of upside do people who have seen him play a lot see in him? Will he be with Nashville next year?

he's expected to play in North America next year. If he doesn't get a spot on the Preds roster out of camp he'll probably play for Milwaukee in the AHL. He's a hard worker with a nice wrist shot and a knack for finding the net. Could wind up being a 30 goal scorer in the NHL with a decent playmaking center.

Picked up another goal tonight to go with 4 PIM. Not that either team he played against was that good, but still pretty impressive for a guy his age.

Plenty of upside to be a top-6 winger who can rack up the points, while playing a solid two-way game. Would seem to me like he's a very Trotz-y type of young player, so it wouldn't suprirse me if he made the Preds sooner rather than later.

IMO, of course.

What exactly do you call a ''Trotz-y'' kind of player?

During training camp this past season he played exclusively on a line with Legwand at center and Erat on the other side. They flew around the ice and really looked comfortable together. I'd look for that line to be reunited very early in camp to see if there is chemistry there.

IF Sullivan comes back (which I personally doubt), I would suspect Hornqvist might be paired with Sully and Legwand on the second line with Erat working on a line with Hlavac (if resigned) and a center not named Bonk or Fiddler (ie: new guy) to make the third line with Arnott between Dumont and Radulov on the top line.

I'm guessing he means a top-six winger that plays a two-way game? Trotz does like those guys that aren't liabilities in their own end :cough Radulov :cough

I just love the fact that he was the last player picked in the Crosby draft and could become a very good NHL player.

Hornqvist went out and potted an shorthanded goal in Sweden's loss to Switzerland today.
