Discussion about Sundin today After Maurice firing.

So I was listening to some AM station while driving through Toronto today and some host of some show was saying how there is a strong possibility that Sundin could play in Montreal next year. I know I have no links or names...but thats not what Im here for....What I want to know is, does anyone think that it is a posibility?
And for whomever wants to argue about stations or links...I believe the station was 1010 am...not sure...Don't know Toronto stations well

Ehh, I don't think it's a possibility. Any speculation about Mats is usually not true. Especially when the rumors are stemming from hosts of a show. I doubt a guy who loves the fans of the Toronto goes out and signs with a rival.

I heard the same rumour today when talking with some people out here over lunch today... I find it pretty hard to believe as well, especially after refusing to waive the NTC to allow the TML to get any kind of return for him at all. Who knows though, anything can happen I suppose.

He said he wants to play his remaining years in Toronto. He said he doesn't have much time left in the NHL so he might retire within 2 years. So why would we want a guy who would only play 2 seasons with us at a sub-par level, and why would he go to a rival team when he loves his current team?

Ludzig (?) on the Score mentioned some people told him Sundin could be on his way to Montreal.

Sure thing bud.

Trying to trade Sundin was pretty classless. That would be like if the Pens tried to trade Lemieux when they were down.

He'll be a player coach next year, leading on both the scoresheet and from "behind the bench" hypathetically

Then the year after that he will permenantly take up the coaching position

Then a year after that he'll be fired for missing the playoffs by 1 point (McCabe with the winner in a 5-4 Ottawa Overtime Win)

Pat Quinn will be re-hired, Cliff Fletcher will fired for a cardboard cutout of Alan Eagleson, and Kaberle & McCabe will get married, to each other.

Tomas McCabe will be traded at the deadline, and will demand half of Bryan McCabe's Stanley Cup ring after Cardboard Eagleson leads the Leafs to a Cup

The Leafs go into a cup draught until 2067 after shattered the Cups to bits when passing it to the Coach for him to hoiste

Eagleson is crushed and is never seen again

Until Judgement day when he roams the earth once more next to his father Lucifer

But none of it will come true if Mats signs with us

Al Strachan mentionned the rumor on the Score today too... but he also said he just doesn't see it happening.

But if Al Strachan says its not happening, that must mean it actually is gonna happen.

Were getting Sundin....

We need a smilie....

I suggest

Sundin so we are sticking out our tongues at all the Leaf fans.

Hmm, doubt it would be 1010 since I don't think that talk station ever talks sports let alone hockey...probably either 640 or 590.

As for the rumor it self...I can only believe that if Sundin decides he wants to win the cup before he retires...unless the management is pissing him off more than I would have expected...

If my teams management needed a big revamping and they brought in a dinosaur like Fletcher, they'd be pissing me off. To me his hiring made less sense than firing Ferguson.

Guy Lafleur loved the fans of Montreal and signed with Quebec. I'm not saying that he will sign in Montreal but it is absurb to think that he wouldn't think about it especially the way he was treated late in the season

Well, I sorta agree with you but on the other hand at least Fletcher has the inner b#lls to actually change things...whether those changes are for good or not is another story altogether mind you... Course he is handcuffed what with all the NTC's...so...gah, just hurts thinking about it....must cause ulcers to all Leafs fans...wouldn't know what I would do to myself if I was one.

The medias from around the country are really abusing the Habs fan base.... Of course I would literally kill a squirrel if it meant one of two seasons of Sundin...

Still... this is like (e5)-unlikely

I could see it hapening because of all the europeans players we have. He would be a nice fit here and could provide some major protection for kovalev in the playoffs. This being said I would not get my hopes up on this one. Sundin and leaf fans have a major connection and sundin signing here would be a major slap in the face towards the fans in Toronto. Hes certainly going to think twice about it. The Red wings are also a team that will probably be looking at signing sundin if he leaves toronto. Realisticly I think the wings have more of a chance to sign Sundin then the habs.

Im not sure what would be worse for leaf fans. Sundin signing in Ottawa or Sundin signing in Montreal.

No thanks! The guy has what? 1 year left? and never won anything, give the kids even more roles next year and give more ice time to the Kostitsyns, Latendresse, Plekanec, Chipchura etc.
