Ontario without a doubt, the defenses aren't even close, forwards are pretty close and Quebec's goaltending is better. Turco's good enough that the Ontario team would win a series rather easily.

Ontario would beat any province in Canada, but I think Quebec and Alberta would be a close second.

Here is what I have for a Alberta lineup (Probably missing a few players)

Iginla-Ray Whitney-Heatly
Lupul-Comrie-Ryan Smyth
Reinprecht-Doan-Tucker
Fedoruk-Langkow-Chimera

Phaneauf-Neidermayer
Bouwmeester-Souray
Phillips-Brad Stuart

Cam Ward
Chris Osgood

A great defensive team with a couple great scoring lines
Dynamite Defense
Solid goal tending!!!

Despite being born in Edmonton, Scott would be considered a BC player the same way Yzerman is an Ontarian. Hmmm Steve was born in Cranbrook only to head out east while Scotty was born in Alberta only to make his way to Cranbrook... a cool 1 for 1 although I'd rather have Yzerman.

These are the key words.

Either way pretty good squad all together.

Yeah even without Neidermayer that is a nice squad. Perhaps some better Centres and a few years to allow Ward to get better would mean ths squad can beat those Easterners. (not like it isn't already possible)

Hmmm now to look into some BC forwards.

Ontario would win.... I can't believe you guys all forgot the Staals on Ontario though.... Eric definetely makes the team, and Marc probably does too.

The forwards are probably very close, with maybe a small edge to ontario for depth....
The defence is a clear, convincing win by Ontario.
The goaltending is a clear win for Quebec based on depth... however only one goalie is needed at a time... Brodeur/Luongo vs Turco is still advantage Quebec, but the advantage is not near as big as the one on Defence.

Ontario's defensive corps is much much better than Quebec, although Quebec's goaltenders are better. The forwards IMO are practically identical with a slight nod going to Ontario.

I believe Pomminville is a Quebecer who just happens to have American citizenship. Other than being born there, I don't think Stastny really has any ties to Quebec (he would have left when he was 4 if he moved around with his dad).

I think the best way to do this is where a player grew up, not where they were born.

I think Ontario would win quite easily based purely on their defense being bad. But the Quebec team would have a lot of scoring and very good goaltending so it wouldn't be out of the question for them to win.

Wow yeah, what was I thinking.

E. Staal over Boyes or Sharp for sure and maybe M. Staal over Foote, although with how he played in the playoffs, he might still have something to offer. Don't think I'd want to bump out anyone else... maybe Wideman? even then, I think he should stay...

Correct me if I'm wrong, but

Robidas
Boucher
Beauchemin
Vlasic
Letang

All spent time playing top pairing minutes during the year with their teams

And their teams belong to the cream of the crop of the nhl (well they are not sucky teams)

Ontario may win but not "easily" like you said. It depends on who is coaching this thing. If it's a Lemaire with a strong team structure then not having a lot of stellar Ds is less of an issue when the forwards do a lot of backchecking.

That may be true, but that doesn't compete with the fact that:

Pronger - Jovonovski
Campbell - Wideman
Burns - Foote
M. Staal

Were all #1 D-men on their respective teams (except for Wideman who played almost as many minutes on average as Chara - 26:50 vs. 25:09). These 6 are WORLDS better than Quebec's 6...

I think to prove it once and for all, Canada should enter the provinces separately in the next Olympics. It's on Canadian soil, so why not rewrite the rules?

My money would be on Team Ontario.
