I think that for the most part, the music at the Bell Centre sucks, anyway, so why not do a complete overhall and showcase some local artists in both languages? I like what they play in Pittsburgh. Not so much Buffalo, though. It really needs to be "I'll kick your ass, *****" type music when you're watching someone get thrown out of the faceoff circle.
I do agree that the current Bell Centre music sucks hard, especialy the goal song. But its not a reason to destroy the ambiance even more by putting french songs. It's not like if we had a lot of quality french music to play, its all schitty pop-rock songs discusting for ears, most of the time.
Will they ask Gilles Vigneault to sing the national anthem too ? Theses nationalist losers dont know what to do anymore.
Yes, it's retarded. But the government doesn't want to legiferate anyway, so they can whine all they want, the habs management don't have to listen.
On the other hand, a few weeks ago I was listening to Les Trois Accords, and telling myself how cool it would be if the habs selected a french-canadian song as the goal song. Why take friggin U2 when we have excellent local rock artists around? I'm not saying the habs are stupid for not doing this, I'm just saying it would be cool.
Garou would sucks, but Grand Champion International De Course could kick serious ass.
Sorry for not reading the entire thread, but I like this idea not only for Montreal, but for most sports teams. What better way to represent a city than to promote its arts? I'd be stoked if the Canucks decided to promote local artists in the city. What better place to start getting recognition than your own city/home arena, right?
Enough people know 'big' artists, let local teams support locals.
If you think that Andrée Watters represents french music, it's kind of sad you are that ignorant.
That being said, I think the music at the Bell Center is bad (exept Darth Vader theme when we are going in the powerplay and I wanna drive a zamboni...yes I do, even if I dislike the song)
There's a lot of song that could be played at the Bell Center instead of Madonna, Rihanna and all that crap)
Ça ira by the Breastfeeders Videoclip of Ça ira
Goûte à mon bubble gum by Les Prostiputes Les Prostiputes' MySpace : At the beginning of the song there's a 12-123-1234 really cool
Dumas with Miss Ectasy
Le Nombre with J'ai besoin d'un appareil
Détruire by LES MARMOTTES APLATIES
Malajube with Montréal -40 or Jus de Citron or anything
1990 or Rock'n'roll et pauvreté by Jean Leloup
Like someone said : Passe-moé la puck by Les Colocs & Les Dales Hawerchuck
This is just a sample. Didn't say anything about Offenbach, Vilain Pingouin (Le Train!), Robert Charlebois, Arcade Fire, Bran Van 3000, Lesbian on Ecstasy, Karkwa, Caféine (Vieux Vicieux) and countless others...and this is not even on the pop radio.
At least there is someone on this board who knows more about french music that just Roch Voisine and Celine
I don't really agree with Michel Brulé, but it's true that pretty much all kind of music are made in Québec
Pop=Andrée Watters, Ariane Moffat, Marie-Mai
Arena Rock/Mainstream Rock = Jonas, Exterio, Kain, Pistolets Roses, Les Trois accords, André Simple Plan
Kind of brit rock=Malajube, Karkwa, Bonjour Brumaire, El motor, Arcade Fire
Rap= Sans Pression, Imposs, L'assemblée
Electro= Ghislain Poirier, Omnikrom, Numéro, DJ Champion
It's not all good music but it could play instead of Britney Spears, Rihanna, Fall out boy, 50 cents and Good Charlotte for sure and it won't destroy the ambiance
