VanRyn won't be traded. Jacques is counting on him returning and regaining the form he had a couple years ago when he was one of our top defenders. Look at the quotes from Martin. He says "Hopefully we can add a puck moving defensman to our team, and also that Mike can come back and be a solid contributor for us."

VanRyn is a puck moving defensman when he's on his game and was very good for us before his wrist injuries. If he can rehab and come back healthily and strongly, he can be a valuable player for us. The potential risk of trading him vs. keeping him and seeing him return to form isn't worth it for us.

I just wonder where that puck-mover is going to fit. Bouw-Allen/Skrastins, puck-mover Jacques has in mind(?)-Allen/Skrastins, Ryno-Murphy/Cullimore/Welch/and I was impressed with Johansson's game after he came here. Well, I was more impressed with him than I was with Murphy.

Cullimore isn't under contract, but I think they should bring him back, he was great last season.

Thats a good number, only a $25,000 raise over his previous contract.

Question regarding J Bo...

Has there been any rumor or report about what kind of deal he wants? I am very interested. I'm not a Panthers fan, but I've always liked Bouwmeester. He often gets forgotten when people are discussing the elite young dmen of the NHL. I think he's still also a bit of a puzzle to some outsiders.

And if the team cannot come to contract terms with him, what is a relative value player you would like to see in a trade? Mind you, I think the world of him so my perception would be skewed when talking trades.

I would be interested to hear any of your thoughts. Thanks in advance.

No word on the money he's asking for, but I'd imagine it would be comparable to Phaneuf's contract.

Give me a team and I'll give you what I'd like to see in return...

That makes sense to me, because I think he is every bit as valuable as Phaneuf, but in different ways.

Who on Philly interests you?

We'd probably ask for Coburn+

Not sure what the + would be, maybe a 1st, maybe a forward.

Yeah, and that would make it tough for Philly, because Coburn is one of their building blocks for the future, and they are very thin at legit D prospects in the organization. Philly has such an abundance of forwards to trade and it looks like you guys have enough forwards in the system, so they probably wouldn't be the best trade partners.

I hope you guys get J Bo locked up, squared away, and everything goes smoothly with his contract talks. He is a treat to watch and I've always been a huge fan.

I agree, Philly isn't a good trade partner in a Bouw trade. Thanks for the sentiments. Best of luck to the Flyers next season.

This is not a trade thread - please don't take it off topic.
