Best pick : Bucko McDonald. Basically a Craig Ludwig with fewer PIM, faster stride, and smaller shinpads. In the 520+. Should go MUCH earlier than it did this time as well. (While we're at it. Jungosi, I don't know if you realize how awesome a Orr/McDonald pair would have been)

Worst pick : Glenn Anderson, 198th. Not that Anderson is undeserving of the spot, but considering I already had Richard for the clutch scoring element, picking Anderson was a bit unnecessary. I could have picked, let's say, a D-Men - at that time, that would probably have been Art Coulter - and that guy would have been a big improvement over Taffy Abel.

Bottom line : Crazy Moore - Richard - Richard line, and a great 3rd line as well. I would still have picked Alex Connel to backstop that team, especially since I know him even more today, only I would have given him a slightly better defense - it would have been a great start.

Special : I had really planned the Moore - Richard - Richard line at the very moment I opted to pick Richard at 6th.

Best pick : Newsy Lalonde/Jean Ratelle (ex-aequo). Basically, I think both guys should go AT LEAST 20 spots earlier.

Worst pick : Lorne Chabot. Well, that one can be explained by the two following facts : Nalyd and FF hadn't picked their starter yet, and the best three guys I saw remaining were Connell - Chabot - Holmes, in that order. And our following pick was way after them. That alone explains the trading down frenzy until the point I realized I would have to pick a backup. Vachon isn't a top-starter, so he somewhat needed a great backup. And, well... If I wasn't picking Chabot, the next best netminders from Quebec were like.... Roberto Luongo and Jean-Sébastien Giguère. Okay guys with a top-netminders, but definitely not guys deserving somewhere between 40 and 45% of the starts in this draft. Had I known NP and FF would pick Holmes...

In retrospect : Too early to call

Special : Man... that's extremely tough to bulid a Quebec + Flying Frenchmen team, especially if your first pick is after pappyline at 45th - which means he picks one of the last top Quebec D-Mens, Pierre Pilote, if he isn't picked yet (and he wasn't). Having to trade down not to reach was a must at a certain point - who could we pick without reaching at 32/33th?. Missing Cleghorne by a few picks was a blow, as does missing Mantha as well. Missing those guys (prior to Mantha) pretty much meant we would have to go for an all-attack squad in order to be at least somewhat cohesive. (or not being below average in every single department).

Coaching choice was a little awkward. Baddest defense ever, IMO. Thornton was more for "Lindros insurance". 12 team drafts are fun.

Coach: Jacques Lemaire

Markus Naslund - Pat LaFontaine - Jaromir Jagr
John LeClair - Eric Lindros- RickTocchet
Clark Gillies - Brent Sutter - Bobby Nystrom
Esa Tikkanen - Joe Thornton - TheorenFleury
ex. Wayne Cashman

Raymond Bourque - Chris Chelios
Brian Leetch - Rod Langway
Scott Niedermeyer - Adam Foote
Vladdy Konstantinov

Martin Brodeur
Mike Richter
Curtis Joseph

Coach: Jacques Lemaire

Coach even more awkward. Defense again is fantastic. Odd to see Hooley Smith a as spare but those were the days.

Bill Barber - Peter Forsberg - Sergei Makarov
Steve Shutt - Adam Oates - Peter Bondra
Clark Gillies - Brent Sutter - Dirk Graham
Kevin Stevens - Joel Otto - Ken Hodge
Reg "Hooley" Smith

Denis Potvin - Borje Salming
Larry Robinson - Mark Howe
Gary Suter - Kevin Lowe
Ron Greschner

Billy Smith
Gerry Cheevers
John Vanbiesbrouck

Coach: Lester Patrick

Maybe the strongest LW corps this draft has ever seen. Defense is very good again (duh), centers VERY solid, RW curiously very very weak. There's Brodeur again.

Dickie Moore - Syl Apps, Sr. - Mark Recchi
Brendan Shanahan - Doug Gilmour - Peter Bondra
Esa Tikkanen - Mike Modano - Reggie Leach
Adam Graves - Rod Brind'Amour - Tomas Sandstrom
ex. Eric Staal

Doug Harvey - Chris Chelios
Adam Foote - Gary Suter
Brian Engblom - Calle Johansson
ex. Kevin Hatcher

Martin Brodeur
Pelle Lindburgh
Ron Hextall

That was my first draft & i couldn't believe the good players that kept falling in my lap. I got bathgate at # 79 in round 5 & Delvecchio at #113 in rd 7. Sloan, i picked up in rd 23. I traded to get hull at #10 but lost my 2nd round pick doing so. Had 2 3rd rd picks though & that is where I picked up schmidt & max B. Picked up Nilsson & hedberg in middle rounds to play with Hull & had the complete pony line 0f bentley/bentley/mosienko. This team was so good that I had 4 really strong 2 way lines. Its just that I went for chemistry with the first 2 listed.

Mind, there were only 17 GM's in this draft so there were a lot of good teams.

ATD 7:
(First draft ever. Made some mistakes, but overall I think it was a solid effort for a first go. Looking back, I really like my defense.)

Ken Linseman - Ralph Backstrom – Ron Ellis

Ebbie Goodfellow – Art Coulter
Rob Ramage – Teppo Numminen

Sandis Ozolinsh

Vladislav Tretiak

Arturs Irbe
ATD 8:
(For the most part, I think I knocked it out of the park with this one. I love my forward lines, from top to bottom. I was really happy with this team.)

Harry Sinden

Wayne Cashman - Phil Esposito (C) - Ken Hodge
Joe Klukay - Adam Oates - Brett Hull
Herbie Lewis (A) - Vladimir Shadrin - Wilf Paiement

(This team was a bit of let-down for me after the previous draft I think. It was ok, but just lacked oomph. I love my top line, but after that it's not particularly notable.)

Bun Cook - Nels Stewart (A) - Jeremy Roenick
Joe Klukay - Pit Lepine - Jamie Langenbrunner

Tommy Anderson - Ivan Tregubov

Jason Smith, Jack Laviolette

John Vanbiesbrouck

ATD 11:
(I really liked this squad. Grabbed two elite defensemen off the bat, and I think I was still able to get quite a bit of high-end offensive talent. Top-to-bottom, I love my defense. My bottom pairing had 4 all-star selections between them! Great checking line too.)

Harry Sinden

Cy Denneny - Joe Malone - Hooley Smith (A)
Dany Heatley - Denis Savard - Sergei Makarov

Honestly, I think getting Bernie Morris when people were selecting spares, is a much better steal than Bentley in the 80s.

One common theme with EB's teams, is his continued selection of great players long before their greatness had been fully acknowledged by everyone else. It's a common these I have noticed with my own teams, too, as evidenced by the rise in draft position of so many of these players. However, EB has been able to translate these picks into immediate success in the current draft, whereas I have not, and have had to take my satisfaction over the course of the next two drafts in realizing that my team was just "ahead of its time".

The Quebec Nordiques

Not a huge fan of this team. The defense aside from Orr was rather mediocre and the forward corps wasn't that impressive as well. It was my first entry however.

Dickie Moore - Joe Primeau - Dino Ciccarelli
Bernie Nicholls - Adam Oates - Mark Recchi
Johnny Gottselig - Bob Bourne - Gary Dornhoefer
Don Maloney - Bob Gracie - Ron Duguay
Dave Brown

Bobby Orr - Craig Ludwig
Nikolai Sologubov - Ted Green
Bucko McDonald - Normand Rocherfort
Tomas Jonnson

Chuck Gardiner
Alex Conell

Coach : Jacques Demers

ATD 10

The Victoria Secrets

I joined forces with MXD in that draft. I still love this team. The first lines was so badass and the entire team had a whole lot of very mean and physical players. The defense was pretty damn good too. Overall I think this might have been my best entry. I mean two of our fouth-liners a viewed as potential second-liners nowadays.

Coach : Pete Green

Bert Olmstead - Mario Lemieux - Cam Neely
Kevin Stevens - Jacques Lemaire - Jack Darragh
Bobby Holik - Phil Watson - Bobby Rousseau
Don Maloney - Tom Dunderdale - Odie Cleghorn
Spares : Bernie Nicholls, Murray Murdoch

Sprague Cleghorn - Herb Gardiner
George Boucher - Bill White
Bullet Joe Simpson - Taffy Abel
Spare : Glen Harmon

Frank Brimsek
Vladimir Dzurilla

ATD 11

The Wacken Warriors

Certainly not a bad entry and the Sakic - Bathgate combo was pretty good. I also liked my defense for it didn't feature a real #1 but the top-3 was a nice unit. Plante in goal is obviously the best I ever had.

Coach : Cecil Hart

Sid Smith - Joe Sakic - Andy Bathgate
Rick Martin - Reg Noble - Babe Dye
Hec Kilrea - Walt Tkaczuk - Eric Nesterenko
Ryan Walter - Metro Prystai - Gary Dornhoefer
Alexander Almetov

Bill Quackenbush - Ken Reardon
Moose Johnson - Jim Schoenfeld
Frantisek Tikal - Mark Tinordi
Jimmy Roberts, Battleship Leduc

Jacques Plante
Gerry McNeil

ATD 12

The Beterguese Hitchhikers

Last but not least my entry from the last draft. I was proud of that team especially the Russian-line. The checking-line was really good and of course the team had the Gretzky - Kurri combination. Langway - Murphy made a great defensive unit as well. I did however screw up coaching part.

Keith Tkachuk - Wayne Gretzky - Jari Kurri
Alexander Yakushev - Vyacheslav Starshinov - Helmut Balderis
Nick Metz - Doug Jarvis - Rusty Crawford
Johnny Peirson - Paul Ronty - Don Maloney
Ron Duguay

Rod Langway - Larry Murphy
Sergei Zubov - Leo Reise jr.
Glen Harmon - Dave Langevin
Dan Boyle

Jiri Holecek
Roger Crozier

ATD 11:

W. Cashman-P. Esposito-K. Hodge
J. Bucyk-B. Federko-J. Toppazzini
D. Maloney-R. MacLeish-R. Middleton
J. Wilson-R. Meagher-A. Davidson

B. Park-E. Bouchard
B. Leetch-C. Huddy
M. Grant-D. Barkley
D. Awrey

G. Vezina
A. Rollins

I still think this team got the shaft- a round or two at least, not a first-round knockout- but Federko as #2 C was a non-starter for most GMs and my defense admittedly lacked depth.

ATD 12:

Sid Smith - Joe Sakic - Larry Aurie
Brian Bellows - Marcel Dionne - Reggie Leach
Thomas Steen - Kent Nilsson - Hakan Loob
Johnny Gottselig - Dave Poulin - Mario Tremblay
Johnny Wilson - Duane Sutter

Ray Bourque - Rob Blake
Kevin Lowe - Adam Foote
George Owen - Bill Hajt

Grant Fuhr
Charlie Hodge

Strangely enough, this was the team I would have thought would do the worst of the two, and it ended up being knocked out in the Conference Finals. Was really hoping I could get Forsberg/Sakic and the Triple Crown line back together to go along with the Tre Kronor unit, but it didn't happen and I think that would have been the difference. It wasn't unreasonable, either; Forsberg went a lot earlier than he did in any other Draft and it all went downhill from there.

ATD - 12 teams

Not a perfect lineup, yet I still think it was the best team of the first draft. Got very little respect at the time though.

Bobby Hull - Mark Messier - Charlie Conacher
Dickie Moore - Nels Stewart - Andy Bathgate
John Tonelli - Ted Kennedy - Vaclav Nedomansky
Babe Siebert - Dave Keon - Rick Middleton

Sprague Cleghorn - Bill Gadsby

Ken Dryden

This team in ATD11 finished lowly ranked and was bounced in the first round:

Colorado Avalanche

Head Coach: Jacques Demers
Ass. Coach: Roger Neilson

Luc Robitaille-Gilbert Perreault-Yvan Cournoyer
Michel Goulet-Mats Sundin(A)-Bobby Bauer
Herbie Lewis-Vinny Damphousse-Owen Nolan(A)
Bobby Holik-Red Sullivan-John MacLean
Wilf Paiement

Pierre Pilote(C)-Georges Boucher
Leo Boivin-Randy Carlyle
Rob Ramage-Carol Vadnais
Kevin Hatcher

Patrick Roy
Lorne Chabot

pp1: Luc Robitaille-Gil Perreault-Yvan Cournoyer-Pierre Pilote-Butch Boucher
pp2: Michel Goulet-Mats Sundin-Owen Nolan-Carol Vadnais-Randy Carlyle

pk1: Bobby Holik-Herbie Lewis-Pierre Pilote-Leo Boivin
pk2: Vinny Damphousse-John MacLean-Randy Carlyle-Rob Ramage

I then joined the MLD11 and read tons about the past, even reading all past MLD threads and boy it was fun though hard work. My fav team so far though maybe not my best.

Laval Titan

Head Coach: Lindy Ruff

Captain: Jamie Macoun
Assistant Captains: Slava Bykov

Valeri Kamensky - Slava Bykov (A) - Andrei Khomutov
John Ogrodnick - Don Raleigh - Jimmy Ward
Rejean Houle - Wayne Merrick - Jamie Langenbrunner
Kelly Miller - Mike Ridley - Scott Mellanby
Dave Schultz, Jason Allison

Brian Engblom - Jamie Macoun (C)
Alexei Gusarov - Gary Galley
Mario Marois - Miroslav Dvorak
Warren Godfrey

Jim Henry
Ed Johnston

Then I did the AAA11 and was praised for finding Burridge and Burke, though introducing McEwen should have been better received I think. Many of the modern players had some good stats and top-10 finishes. My least favorite team overall.

Michigan Wolverines

coach: Ron Wilson

Martin Straka - Cliff Ronning - Glen Murray
Andre Boudrias (C) - Mike Bullard - Russ Courtnall
Randy Burridge - Dave Creighton - Scott Young
Donald Brashear - Todd Marchant (A) - Charlie Sands
Miroslav Satan, Ivan Boldirev

Marty Burke (A) - Alexei Zhitnik
Mike McEwen - Keith Brown
Patrice Brisebois - Steven Finn
Garth Butcher

Gilles Meloche
Don Beaupre

I also did the ATD12 and don't think it got the kuddos it deserved. Can I make a better team than it? I will try but I don't know if I can.

St. Georges Garaga

Head Coach: Pat Quinn

Reg Noble - Nels Stewart - Guy Lafleur
Billy Burch - Jacques Lemaire (A) - Jack Darragh
Kirk Muller (A) - Marty Walsh - Jack Marshall
Georges Mantha - Glen Skov - Rejean Houle
Garry Unger, Brian Skrudland

King Clancy (C) - Sylvio Mantha
Neil Colville - Dollard St. Laurent
Bullet Joe Simpson - Ed Van Impe
Allan Cameron

Turk Broda
Vladimir Dzurilla

CALL-UPS: Shorty Green, Alex Shibicky, Dave Schultz, Oliver Seibert, Fred Lake, Jack Marks

ZM, the toughest guy in your top-6 in ATD11 was Mats Sundin! That's not a recipe for success.

It wasn't a brutal team, but it's a competitive draft with a razor-thin margin for error, and looking back I would still rate it last.

It's common with any new GM. I was last in my first draft too. Your last team was truly underappreciated, though. I had you first in the division.

Finished 3rd in the Bob Cole division, but lost in the Bob Cole conference final to arrbez's Inglewood Jacks (after making it through 2 rounds). Still very proud of how I did in my first HFBoards ATD. This is still the furthest I've ever gone in the ATD.

Finished 3rd in a very strong Bob Cole division and lost to Hedberg/vancityluongo's Tidewater Sharks in the very first round. I'd like to point out that in every HFBoards ATD I've done to date, I've never made a single trade. That will likely continue to hold for the foreseeable future.

ATD 2012 - 32 Teams

West Island Lions

Coach: Joel Quenneville
Captain: Toe Blake
Alternate Captains: Ed Westfall, Doug Wilson

Brian Propp - Elmer Lach - Vaclav Nedomansky

PK1: Phil Watson - Ed Westfall - Tim Horton - Dave Burrows
PK2: Bob Bourne - Brian Propp - Jean-Guy Talbot - Phil Russell

I think I finished 7th in the Foster Hewitt division and lost in the 1st Round to BenchBrawl's Montreal team in 5 games. Was pretty disappointed as I thought my team was better than that. However, I don't think I'll ever start off my ATD with a goalie again, unless it's outstanding value. Once again, not a trade made, though I did consider some.

ATD 2013 - 32 Teams

Coach: Lindy Ruff
Captain: King Clancy
Alternate Captains: Yvan Cournoyer, Lionel Conacher

Joe Malone - Bernie Federko - Mark Recchi
Clark Gillies - Brad Richards - Yvan Cournoyer

Yvon Lambert - Doug Risebrough - Bill Ezinicki

Dominik Hasek
Ron Hextall

PP1: Yvon Lambert - Joe Malone - Mark Recchi
Brad Richards - King Clancy

PP2: Clark Gillies - Bernie Federko - Yvan Cournoyer
Lionel Conacher - Pat Egan

PK1: Fleming Mackell - Frank Finnigan
Lionel Conacher - Bob Baun

PK2: Doug Risebrough - Bob Bourne
Don Awrey - Jerry Korab

I finished towards the bottom, and lost in the preliminary round to the Halifax Mooseheads. I said I wouldn't take a goalie in the first round again...and that's exactly what I didn't do. I didn't like my team after a few rounds of picks, and I think that's actually the first time I went through much of the draft hating my team, but again, no trades. Hopefully 2014 yields me better results.

ATD 2014 - 28 Teams

Head Coach: Arkady Chernyshev
Assistant Coach: Viktor Tikhonov
Captain: Eddie Gerard
Assistant Captains: Bryan Trottier, Punch Broadbent

Cy Denneny - Bryan Trottier - Rick Middleton
Markus Naslund - Bernie Federko - Punch Broadbent
Nick Metz - Phil Goyette - Jean Pronovost

Barclay Plager - Paul Reinhart
Jeff Brown

Henrik Lundqvist

Pierre Pilote - Dan Boyle

Markus Naslund - Bernie Federko - Punch Broadbent
Moose Vasko - Paul Reinhart

Murray Oliver - Nick Metz
Eddie Gerard - Pierre Pilote

Bryan Trottier - Bruce MacGregor
Moose Vasko - Barclay Plager

Finished dead last in the Rene Lecavalier division and got the boot quickly by Rob Scuderi. I don't think this was a terrible team overall, but I got roasted (and rightfully so, in hindsight) for my 2nd line's general weakness, as well as my starting goalie. At the time, I thought I deserved better, but now that I look back, I think the position I finished in was about right.

ATD 2015 - 32 Teams

Coach: Alain Vigneault
Assistant Coach: John Muckler
Captain: Scott Niedermayer
Alternates: Chris Pronger, Brendan Shanahan

Brendan Shanahan - Mickey MacKay - Jaromir Jagr
Kevin Stevens - Joe Thornton - Cecil Dillon
Don Marshall - Blair Russel - Tony Amonte
Dennis Hull - Claude Giroux - Eric Nesterenko
Steve Thomas - Craig MacTavish

Barry Beck - Scott Niedermayer
Robyn Regehr - Jiri Bubla
Bob Dailey

Jiri Holecek
Tom Paton

Brendan Shanahan - Mickey MacKay - Jaromir Jagr
Chris Pronger - Scott Niedermayer

Kevin Stevens - Joe Thornton - Cecil Dillon
Barry Beck - Jiri Bubla

Don Marshall - Eric Nesterenko
Chris Pronger - Cy Wentworth

Blair Russel - Cecil Dillon
Barry Beck - Robyn Regehr

I was really happy with how this team turned out, but I was in a tough division. Finished 4th in the Rene Lecavalier division, and while I made it out of the 1st round for the first time since 2010, but once again lost to Rob Scuderi in round 2. A couple picks I would like to have back, and I think I'd have finished higher. This and my 1st entry are my strongest to date, in my opinion. It was nice to have a "comeback" after a few years of being at the bottom.

ATD 2016 - 26 Teams

Jack Walker - Derek Sanderson - Dirk Graham
Wendel Clark - Joe Thornton - Dino Ciccarelli

Bobby Orr - Vladimir Konstantinov
Guy Lapointe - Sprague Cleghorn
Gus Mortson - Jimmy Thomson

Bill Durnan
Tiny Thompson

Coaches - Pat Quinn and Jacques Lemaire

Finished 4th in division and lost to 5th seed in round 1.

Pierre Pilote - Sylvio Mantha

Hap Holmes

Coach - Lester Patrick
Spares - Duke Keats, Blair Russel, and Bert Corbeau

Finshed 3rd in division, and took an extremely tough road to the finals.... and lost. Was extremely happy with this team. Having Mikita and MacKay in the middle allowed me to have amazing balance in terms of offense/defense.

Tommy Smith - Darryl Sittler - Billy Boucher
Tommy Phillips - Art Chapman - Blair Russel
Perk Galbraith - Red Berenson - Mush March

Jan Suchy - Red Dutton
Dunc Munro - Bert Corbeau

Clint Benedict

7th in division, but upset 2nd in the first round. Wasn't really happy with this team.

I have been in the past 5 atds, 4 mlds, 3 aaa drafts, and a aa draft. I wonder how long it would take me to post all these lineups without looking back.

15 drafts I've been in here at the ATDs and I'll profile them all below:

I joined the ATDs in early 2005 for ATD3 when Hockey Outsider and JohnFlyersFan joined Leaf Lander (to mention the only three current ATDers of the old bunch) for the third installment. It was a 15-team draft prior to any playoff format. My squad was the best the drafts have ever seen at center ice imo and I loved my wingers more than the other GMs did, one calling the forward core like a 'helicopter' with the weight in the middle and thin blades revolving around it:

Victoria Aristocrats

coach Pat Quinn

Brian Propp - Steve Yzerman (C) - Dino Ciccarelli
Esa Tikkanen - Mark Messier (A) - Claude Lemieux
Bob Gainey - Bobby Clarke (A) - Jere Lehtinen
Jiri Holik - Guy Carbonneau - Terry O'Reilly
"Tiger" Williams

Jan Suchy - Mike Ramsey
Randy Carlyle - Adam Foote
Frantisek Tikal - Craig Ludwig
Josef Malecek

Bernie Parent
Vladimir Dzurilla
Rogie Vachon

ATD4 was a 16-team draft in which Hedberg joined. My squad was starting to appreciate the Soviets, I continued my love of Gainey, Ramsey and Ludwig and I played Jarvis out of position due to overdrafting centers:

Cambridge Tabs

coach Jacques Demers

Bobby Hull - Adam Oates - Brett Hull
Michel Goulet - Alex Maltsev - Jari Kurri
Bob Gainey - Jean Ratelle - Doug Jarvis
Brian Sutter - Joe Nieuwendyk - Brian Bellows
Dale Hunter

Vitali Davydov - Viktor Kuzkin
Mike Ramsey - Carol Vadnais
Craig Ludwig - Sergei Gonchar
Gary Bergman

Jacques Plante
Grant Fuhr
Gerry Cheevers

ATD5 I was too busy for and in the 20-team ATD6 I developed the blueline more. My squad was balanced enough that it was the #1 seed in the first ever regular season ranking, administered by BM67 (I lost in the second round Game 7 OT to a Sawchuk-backed Murphy-GM'd Oilers team argued heavily for by FI#2, a GM who assassinated my squad endlessly, having no respect for non-NHL Euros). I again had a center playing out of position and had too much ice time for Turgeon but otherwise loved this squad:

Burnaby Mountaineers

coach Scotty Bowman

Valeri Kamensky - Wayne Gretzky (C) - Jari Kurri
Brendan Shanahan - Jeremy Roenick - Steve Larmer
Brian Propp - Pierre Turgeon - Jere Lehtinen
Adam Graves - Guy Carbonneau (A) - Joel Otto
Tiger Williams

Al MacInnis (A) - Nikolai Sologubov
Vitali Davydov - Viktor Kuzkin
Jan Suchy - Mike Ramsey

George Hainsworth
Mike Vernon
John Vanbiesbrouck

After a 28-team ATD7 we had an 11-team MLD7 I co-GM'd with Hockey Outsider and we won the championship with a solid squad:

Penticton Vees

coach Billy Reay

Camille Henry - Thomas Gradin - Alex Kovalev
Don Lever (A) - Pit Martin (C) - Ulf Dahlen
Pierre Mondou - Tim Young - Stu Barnes
Mike Krushelnyski - Gregg Sheppard - Petr Klima
Scott Gomez

Rod Seiling (A) - Doug Bodger
Dmitri Yushkevich - Brian Rafalski
Lyle Odelein - Scott Hannan
Jyrki Lumme

Kelly Hrudey
Reggie Lemelin
Michel Larocque

Then came the 28-team ATD8 and my fav squad I can't believe was seeded 4th and bounced in round 2 in 6 games. I researched and planned the hell out of that squad, I thought with terrific results building a Shero-style team:

coach: Fred Shero

Offense: "Get the puck in deep and keep it there. Go to the net. Own the crease."
Defense: "Punish the puck carrier, force the play, control the middle, clear rebounds."

captain: Scott Stevens
alternate: Doug Gilmour
alternate: Rod Brind'amour

J. P. "Jeep" Parise - Eric Lindros - Dino Ciccarelli
The Razor Line: aggressive forechecking corner man; dominant hitting centre; crease crashing trigger man
Dave Andreychuk - Doug Gilmour (A) - Vladimir Martinec
The Two-Way Line: size at the net; speedy gritty skill up the middle; lightning quick puckhandler
John Ogrodnick - Rod Brind'Amour (A) - John "Pie" McKenzie
The Hard Line: consistent hard shooter; traffic-savvy face-off warrior; clutch-scoring shadowing pest
Steve "Sarge" Vickers - Don Luce - Mike Foligno
The Heart Attack Line: grindin' shootin' rebounder; elite face-off PK SHG scorer; strong nasty hustlin' heavy shot
extra forwards: Ivan Hlinka - Ziggy Palffy

Alternative 3rd/4th line formations for occasional use:
Shutdown Line: Rod Brind'amour - Don Luce - John McKenzie
Offensive Line: John Ogrodnick - Ivan Hlinka - Ziggy Palffy

Guy Lapointe - Scott Stevens (C)
Bill Gadsby - Charlie Huddy
Alexander Gusev - Joe Watson
Marty McSorley

Dominik Hasek
Pete Peeters

When Shero started to coach the Flyers' he immediately implemented a system. "Other teams have each line playing a different system depending on if they are a scoring or checking line. On the Flyers every line and player plays the same system, whether the player is a superstar or on the fourth line"

forecheckers on each line: Parise, Gilmour, McKenzie, Luce
crease crashers on each line: Ciccarelli, Andreychuk, Brind'amour, Vickers
shooters on each line: Lindros, Martinec, Ogrodnick, Foligno

"There are 4 corners to a rink and a pit in front of the net. You have to hold your ground. There isn't a man on the team who is afraid to go into a corner and hit someone"

backcheckers among forwards: Parise, Gilmour, Foligno, Andreychuk, Brind'amour, McKenzie, Luce, Vickers
coach Shero nasty forwards: Lindros (big hits, bull in traffic), Parise (swinging stick at ref), Dino (superpest), Foligno (2000+ PIM), McKenzie (cheapshot needler)
guys Shero will yell at: Ciccarelli ("Backcheck Dino!"), Ogrodnick ("Don't just hit the openings, go into traffic Johnny O"). Martinec ("You better score again tonight, or I'll put in Palffy and at least get some bumpin' goin'")

open-ice hitters: Lindros, Stevens, Gadsby, Gusev, Huddy, McSorley
Then in a 14-team MLD8 I had what I believe to be the best MLD first line ever, the squad seeded 3rd made it to the second round only:

McGill Redmen

coaches Viktor Tikhonov, Ron Wilson

Ven Alexandrov - Dubbie Bowie - Blair Russel
Steve Payne - Billy Reay - Real Cloutier
Johnny Wilson - Kelly Kisio (A) - Paul MacLean
Reggie Fleming - Red Sullivan (A) - Yevgeny Babich
Andrei Khomutov

Moose Goheen - Doug Young (C)
Vasili Pervukhin - Zinetula Bilyaletdinov
Brendan Witt - Fredrik Olausson
Alex Smith

Nikolai Khabibulin
Don Beaupre

In a 10-team AAA8 in which only half-teams were drafted, my squad ended up ranked third and included both of the draft's voted all-star blueliners:

Greenville Growl

Forwards (6): Gordon Pettinger, Vladimir Vikulov, Ron Murphy, Bob Kelly, Joe Juneau, Carl Voss
Defensemen (3): Curt Giles, Lee Fogolin, Sr., Tom Bladon
Goaltender (1): Tommy Salo

In a 32-team ATD9 I teamed up with ol' nemesis FI#2 to co-GM a #3 second round squad ah sported a third line and third pairing I was jacked about:

In ATD11 I again co-GM'd with Hockey Outsider but we were too busy to PM much and the result was to neither of our satisfaction, a surprising 2nd seed that lost to a deserving Nayld Psycho Fighting Saints squad in Game 7 of the second round. Our team was fast:

Coach Billy Reay

Adam Graves - Phil Goyette - Bobby Rousseau
Louis Berlinquette - John Madden - Martin St. Louis
Milan Novy, Tumba Johansson

Your ATD8 team was fantastic VanI! Elite goaltending, terrific defense, Lindros-Gilmour down the middle, and a balanced forward group that looks to be greater than the sum of it's parts. You obviously put a lot of thought into putting that team together, and built a theme/story around your team and the coach.
