Honestly, out of all the available d-men that have been talked about, I like J-Bo the most. He's young and would fit into our long term plans. If Slats could pull this trade off it would be awesome.

All the more reason for them to do whatever they need to do to hold on to him... letting him go just says "rebuilding... again".

i think getting bouwmeester would be a giant upgrade for this team for next year to fifteen years, a future star defenseman, for a good defensman (tyutin), a past 30 goal scorer(prucha), a good goalie(wiikman), and a first round pick (pick number 22), and a second for 2009, i still think the rangers are getting a steal out of that.

Cherepanov, Sanguinetti, 1st. Anything who thinks any combo of Dawes, Callahan, Prucha, Tyutin/ Girardi, and a first is enough is dreaming.

I'll counter offer :

1st & 3rd rounder in 2009/Bobby Ryan/Mark Mitera for JBo & a pick.

There is Anaheims offer, you think Prucha, Toots and a few picks looks better than that?

That's overpayment for Bouwmeester. 3 #1 picks for one? Nope.

Exactly, it would be a steal, which is why the Panthers won't do it. Change the second rounder to another first, or add in a guy like Anisimov and we'd be getting close.

Tyutin
Prucha
Wiikman
Anisimov/1st 08
1st 09

Wiikman is not a good goalie because no one knows what he is.

And Prucha might be a former 30 goal scorer but he's a current 7 goal scorer.

Bow is what we hope Sanguinetti will become. If he's part of the price, I can live with that. I can also live with some of the other combinations of payers and draft picks thrown around here. We are talking about a 24 year old experienced and established player here who has a decade of service in front of him. Other than Stall and Dubinsky, I'm dancing.

This thread is insulting to the Panthers. You have to give to get and admittedly we all say Bouwmeester is a great defenseman with a huge frame very capable of QB'ing the Power Play who still happens to be very young, people are still offering just:
-A late 1st this year
-A 2nd next year
-Prucha who had a great rookie year but has done nothing since failing to crack the lineup time after time this year. And yet for some reason we still think other teams haven't watched him play the past two years when making these proposals.
- And combinations of Sauer, Baranka, Wiikman and Bourett.

C'mon guys... If a Panther fan came in here and started offering Peltonen, Montador and 2 2nd's for Staal we'd all be going nuts...

woah! Q.E.D. I think we can stop discussing this and close the thread guys.

As far as Bouwmeester being a stud...
3 seasons in the NHL, has not missed a single game.

That's definitely better than Rosival.

Bouwmeester would be amazing if he could be locked up at a reasonable contract. something like $14M/3 years, and yeah, I'd move some pretty serious assets for him.

Some rumor has been flying around that Bouw isn't interested in resigning with the Cats when his RFA status expires.

Realistically, you're looking at Dawes, Tyutin/Girardi, 1st in 08, 2nd in 08/09 plus one of Wiikman or LeNeveu at a minimum.

However, thats a trade I'm willing to make.

I know, it is overpayment from the Rangers POV--but I think it would take something close to that to get him, not our crap.

He's Big at 6'4", physical, can QB the PP is still only 24 yrs old, has a laser of a shot, and probably will be a perennial All star
you don't know what you're talking about. he certainly isn't physicaly.

i love j-bo, and have followed him since day 1, even in his WHL days. he's never lived up to his potential and he's a solid #2, #3 on a good team. most of these proposals are insanity.

Would love to see him paired up with Marc Staal on the defense for the next 4 or 5 years. Being the is an RFA i could see ther being some truth to the rumor...But everything of course comes at a price. For the Rangers... to me there are glaring weakness on defense. A big physical defenseman...and a PP QB. Bouwmeister fits the bill here and addresses both of those needs.

But for Glen Sather, I remember one GM around the deadline stating that Glen Sather tries to win every deal 10-0. I would muich rather have a guy like that running the show that a guy that is willing to stip the club of all it's assets in order to land one big fish. Bottom line, if the Rangers are indeed interested in the big fella...I am confident that Sather will not overpay for the guy in the form of players going the other way. Now, in the form of money they will later sign him for... that's another story!
