Wild coach Lemaire to return for eighth season

Quote:
MINNEAPOLIS - Minnesota Wild coach Jacques Lemaire says he'll return for an eighth season with the team.

Lemaire, who announced his decision in a news release Saturday, has a career record of 500-381-168 over 14 years, including 60-52 in the playoffs.

But with the Wild, he's gone just 11-18 in the post-season.

The Wild were ousted in the first round last month by the Colorado Avalanche, culminating what Lemaire called his toughest season as a coach.

Great News !

I heard he met with DR before he made his decision. I wonder what was discussed?
I'm hoping DR agreed to make some major aquisitions for the upcoming season.

Its time for a change, IMO. His teams have been utter failures in the post season. Only when Gaborik went off that one year have the Wild actually done anything.

I had hoped he would have left the organization. Lemaire needed to go... looks like another offseason where stars avoid MN because the coach hates offensive players.

"stars avoid MN because the coach hates offensive players."

Where did you hear that? Or are you just assuming?

Sure the wild play a defensive style. But coming from a Canucks fan here, you have a lot of offensive talent.

Gaborik, Demitra, Rolston, Koivu, PM Bouchard (Although he's pretty inconsitent) and even Belanger did pretty well for you guys this year.
Plus Brent Burns is a beast. You may need one more offensive D-man to round out scoring from the back end.

Lemaire's a good coach. I wouldn't get rid of him just for the sake of change. The Wild are a very good team.

yeah and they seem to approve every year. no real need for a change yet.
