Sometimes stats aren't everything and that's exactly the case with Yashin.

Be careful what you wish for guys.

If the Habs sign him, well I will cross my fingers and hope he perform in the playoff.
I don't like idea but I will cheer and hope for the best. My money will not be on this one.

not even Yashin could make Ottawa's dressing room situation worse!

I'd take Yashin, as long as it's not "our big UFA" of this year

Gainey

Like Michel Bergeron would say "C'est mieux que Smolinski"

I don't know who has better credibility, Garrioch or Ecklund?

If you look at Smolinski's contributions in the playoffs and the disapearing act Yashin usually pulls, I'm pretty sure Smolinski is better...and costs less also. His teammates actually like him.

I wonder if you prefer to have Yashin at $5M/year for 2 years or Forsberg at $6M/year or neither one. No doubt, most of the FA are overpaid; without overpaid, the player normally doesn't join the team.

I prefer Forsberg. With Koivu and Plekanec, we can afford to miss Forsberg for some games.

I'd rather sign Rolston or Selanne or do nothing at all to be honest. I don't want Hossa at 8m per year long term , Forsberg is a walking injury and Yashin.....well is Yashin.

The UFA class this year ain't that great. We should just keep the status quo and save our $$$ and cap space to sign our RFAs and for the 2009 UFA class.

You know... maybe he's changed his perspective (like Kovalev) as was mentioned earlier, I think...

At not too much money (whatever that would mean...) nor for too long (again, whatever that would mean...) I'd say go for it...

He is very talented and, maybe, with Kovalev and the K brothers he'd be able to identify with a group and run with them.

IMO some fans on this board are snobs. From the sound of it, almost no UFA is worthy of playing for the Habs, who are already blessed with an abundance of great players. Not only that, but their rookies and prospects are unexcelled.

Bah humbug, I say.

A true playoff type player contributes when it counts most - where was smolinski vs the Flyers?
