OT: Kypreos - Tucker to be bought out

Saw this on the Leafs board and since we don't have an official free agent thread going, I posted a thread.
Would any of you be interested?
http://hfboards.com/showthread.php?t=516848

Don't forget, it's Kypreos saying this.

Kovalev might have something to say about that...

I might of had some interest a couple of years ago. But he's definitely lost a step which makes me believe he wouldn't be a good fit.

Right now , yes he is. However a few years ago he was actually pretty decent and even reached 60pts a few times and scored some clutch goals for the Laffs.

That said i wouldn't take him on the Habs in his current incarnation.

If he could be reliable defensively against good players while being used on a 3rd line, I'd say , sure why not, but I don't think he can anymore, can he ?

He could for short spurts, he's kind of like Begin. Injuries have really taken a toll on him over the last few years. But he can still bring it on certain nights, just not on a regular basis.

Would be too wrong to cheer for him.

He is a shell of his former self and not even close to that level of a few years ago. He's a waste of a roster space at the moment IMO.

I'd take him as a 13th forward.

For too many years our former players have come back to play the game of their lives against us. No more. This time, let's turn the tables and see a pissed and determined Tucker take it to the Leafs on our 4th line.

(I now feel I need to take a shower)

What the heck is wrong with wine and pills?

As for Tucker, I echo the general sentiment. Train has passed him by, for the most part.

He's a good player, but we need big centers that can score goals, we have more then nough 3rd, 4th line centers, unless we let go Bégin Smolinski and Kosto pull out a defensive line of Tucker-Chipchura-Lappierre, that'd be totally awesome

He would be a perfect playoff performer in Montreal, but I wouldn't give him a lot of money or multiple years on the contract and NO WAY would I put a no trade clause in it.

That's the thing, no one's gonna want him. Pay him 1 year/$700,000 or less to be a depth guy. Nothing to lose really. I hate the guy but he could be a spark plug here and there.

I think Tucker busted his hump to get a lot of $ and now he's out of shape or not willing to play anymore. Not sure. I don't see how he could go from solid player to junk so far. Maybe he got the Ryder Syndrome?

1 or 2 years at 1.5-2m and I'd say yes... He's sure as heck better than smolinski imo.

It always depends on the terms he'd accept, but I'd be interested if he were just looking to play for pride and a chance to win the Cup. A lot of old broken down guys found a second wind with Dallas when Gainey was there. Even Muller was one.

I'd take him for 1.5 million or less. Otherwise, no.

Tucker is the new Bulis, a guy who believes he's suited to a more prominent (read scoring) role on a team despite having limited skills.

There's a reason why he's being bought out.

The problem is : With what ?

Other than Tlusty and their upcoming draft pick (7th overall i think) they don't have much in their pipeline. I think they won't be able to do a true rebuild unless they tank for a few years a la Pittsburgh. They could always go the UFA route but they tried that before and it failed miserably.
