Henrik played a great game against the Czechs today. He's gonna have to be supernatural to beat Canada on friday though...

His (and ours) only hope is that he, and the rest of the team, can be a bit more relaxed than the Canadians.

Reaching the semis was all that could be expected by this Swedish team, or even a bit more than could be expected.

But as all Ranger fans well know, everything is possible with Hank in the net

Hank was great today

As for the next game, I think Canada is just too stacked for the Swedes to have any chance. From what I've seen Sweden has been playing great defense and being as careful as possible, but in the end Canada is still Canada. Will definitely watch the game though

Yeah, it would be ridiculos if Sweden could match up against Canada in the semis. Like 5 of Swedens top 6 forwards are from the SEL. Canada got Getzlaf, Heatly, Nash, Spezza, E. Staal and M. St Louis as their top 6.

Sweden of course got a chance, but its a darn small one and it will take Lundqvist playing on his head and some luck offensivly.

Henrik getting lit up against Canada. Gave up 5 goals (4 top shelf) and pulled in favor of M. Tellqvist.

Hank played on pain killers due to issues with his knee's from the play offs.

He wanted to try and the national mgmt allowed him to try.

Obviously it didn't work out.

Edit:
According to coach he wasn't pulled, he pulled himself.

Maybe.

There's still one more game.

Most likely against Finland.

And second to the final, there's no bigger game for a Swedish national team

Got a feeling that he'll suck it up and try to play against the Fins.

After all they are your biggest rival. No??

Oh yes.

Winning Olympic Gold? Super Sweet.
Winning IIHF WC Gold? Sweet.
Winning against Finland in a big tournament? Mandatory!

I cant believe the Rangers would allow him to play with an injury. Poor management.

They allowed him to play with an injury because the medical staff (both of them) said that his issues would not get worse by playing.

They'll hurt, but they'll heal with rest.

If that rest is right now or next week will not matter for the Rangers.

If there was any chance of his issues getting worse by 3-4 more games, the Rangers medical staff would not have allowed him to play.

Which is also why he couldn't say yes to national play until he was cleared by the Rangers medical staff.

He was cleared by them, and by the national staff.

No worries, there's just one more game.

Then it's vacation and Hank is feeling good because he did what he felt that he should do.

Shh, everyone knows that he always fails at big games.

The inner circle knows otherwise but let's not tell the heathens.

Injured or not, it was a lowly Sweden team vs. basically what would be an all-star caliber team in the NHL.

The game was closer than it should have been anyway, and those that expected Sweden to have any chance were kind of setting themselves up for disappointment. I can't imagine any other goalie fairing that much better against a team who's top top 6 forwards are probably the best in the entire competition. Not to mention that the Swedish players made some bad mistakes on man to man coverage... but that was kind of expected

By the way, please no one quote Dagoon, I'm sure i'm not the only one who doesn't want to read his drivel

Don't even bother. He only shows his face on this board when Henrik let's in more than 3 goals in a game. The rest of the time he's too busy eating crow.

Actually, get him going in a debate. It's funny and I can use some entertainment.

"Grrr, he's not Mike Richter. I don't remember any soft goals he gave up, but I know top shelf goals mean Lundqvist sucks. Plus, I heard that he's Swedish."

Hey Dagoon:

Remind which one of Lundqvist's contemporaries have consistently won the big game? Brodeur? Hasek? Certainly not DiPietro, Luongo, Kipprusof, Nabokov, Biron and Miller. So, rather have Cam Ward, Khabibulin or Osgood?

Way to take the easy way on this one.

Perhaps the Rangers should put Orr in net. Or better yet, bring back Cloutier.
