Officials are advising people to stay indoors because of smoke from a wildfire in the Everglades and wildfires to the north. The National Weather Service issued a dense smoke advisory for most of South Florida until 10a-m on Sunday.
Drivers are warned to be alert for sudden patches of dense smoke, which can lower visibility to near zero. Weather officials say the highest likelihood of dense smoke is west of the Florida Turnpike and that the smoke will limit visibility for drivers. The Everglades fire broke out Wednesday and has burned more than 20-thousand acres.
If you have respiratory problems, doctors say you should stay indoors.
I woke up smelling smoke and thought the house was on fire.
All the way up here in Northern Palm Beach County and outside it looks like a really thick fog and it's hard to breath.
