That said, the fact that you're always so down on the Habs and their players as well as team Canada kind of pisses me off a little.
Good post, but I think Pittsburgh's overall depth will take a big blow when they lose Hossa, Roberts and possibly Malone (I personally believe he will not leave the Pens) to free agency. Washington and Philly have very good young teams and it will be interesting to see who they keep, lose or add this summer a couple of question marks surrounding those teams.
Montreal is in the best spot cap wise and with the fewest free agency problems this summer. While the Habs look to add most of the other teams are trying to maintain as much as they can.

Pitts: Hossa, Roberts, Malone, Ruutu, Dupuis, Laraque, Orpik and Fleury

Phi: Carter, Umerger and Jones (Prospal is probably gone) they are very close to the cap already.

Wash: Huet, Fedorov, Cooke, Green, Eminger, Morrisonn, Laich, Bradley

Rags: Jagr, Straka, Shanahan, Avery, Roszival, Malik, Mara, Dawes,

Habs: AK, Georges, O'Byrne, Lapierre and Grabovski (Streit, Breezer, Ryder and Smoke as well, but I think they are all gone) Next off season is the big one for the Habs, but they shouldn't lose any one they want to keep.

Mtl. is in very good shape moving forward talent and cap wise, not many other teams can say the same.

Hot. This will be entertaining.
Yet losing to the Flyers won't win us bragging rights to most. The general opinion will say they're better. Then there are those, not just Bruin fans, that feel Boston will be better based on 7 hard-fought games (yeah just like the 1992 Whalers came back in 92-93 and proved their loss was actually a gain, please.). If Boston signs some ludicrous UFA deal then HFboard experts will come out in droves to claim we've been surpassed somehow. But we were underestimated a year ago, so why not be that way again? Plus you've got the Devils and Sens fans who likely will feel their seasons were flukes. If nothing were to change, I'd go with:

1. Pittsburgh
2. Montreal
3. Washington
4. NY Rangers
5. Philly
6. Boston
7. Ottawa
8. Buffalo

9. New Jersey
10. Florida
11. Carolina
12. Tampa
13. Toronto
14. NY Isles
15. Atlanta

And good riddance to the Flyers...

Pittsburgh's victory was eminently predictable after the way Philadelphia played against Montreal.

From what I saw of the games, the Penguins actually generated fewer quality chances than the Habs, but buried a much higher percentage.

Wow, the Penguins celebrate very sedately compared to us. No shoving, no facewashes, no defensemen jumping on the goalies...

Thanks I really do hope so. My g/f is not the crying type, but from this news. She's been crying none stop since we heard the news.

Well, Flyers are out and got humiliated today by not only getting shutouted but by getting completely destroyed ... Briere loses for a 3rd consecutive year in the ECF ... Biron came back to Earth ...

And it does pain me to say this but Fleury was way better than Price against the Flyers...

Agreed, the Habs stone hands/Biron playing above his potential and average Habs goaltending were the factors in Mtl's loss. I thought the Habs played better than the Penguins against Philly.

I still think Detroit will win the cup this year.

MAF is adorable. I feel like he's the guy on the team everyone makes way too much fun of in a really affectionate way. Even those goons are graciously congratulating him.
Crosby's still battling acne and Therrien's still ugly, but holy crap did they blow everyone right out of the water. Even I didn't think they would do it like this.

Fleury learned from his playoffs last year and played much better this year, I expect the same from Price next year.

The whole team learned from their short experience in last years playoffs.
I expect the same from the entire Habs roster next season

One of the worst shutout losses in a semi-final clincher ever. I think only Detroit's pounding of Colorado in 2002 was worse. Not since 1962 has a team clinched a berth in the finals with a 6 goal victory (Toronto over the Rags in 62 with a 7-1 win in a game 5 of their own).
