THis is pretty much what I expect to see. He has shown his prima donna tendencies before, and I expect to see them again. Suter will expect to get Weber money even though he doesn't play Weber quality. Weber will get close to Dion money simply because if he had been healthy all season - there is no telling how high his numbers will go. Better to lock up Weber now while we can afford him. May be pricey now, but a bargain later.

I'd take Klein and Koistinen over Suter methinks.

Wanted to avoid making a completely new thread for this, so I figured the thread about another young defenseman would be the best spot.

Anyway, I still think that the Flyers and Predators would be great trading partners with Nashville's glut of defensemen and Philly's depth in wing. As I think it would take too much to get a Suter or Weber, how much would it take to get Dan Hamhuis? Would Umberger and Nodl be a good start?

Hamhuis isn't cheaper than Suter, especially with the cheap contract he has.

So it would still take Carter to get him? Or Umberger and a 1st? Just a bit unclear on what his trade value is.

He's not a defenseman would could trade at this point, he's one of our most experienced defenseman.

Too add to that, he was our #1 d-man this year, most experienced other than DeVries, and has a sweeeeet contract.

Note: Zidlicky has just as many years in the league and is older the Hamhuis but as far as I'm concerned he doesn't really count in this discussion.

Vermette+ Ilja Zubov for Suter.

Vermette is a solid 2nd line centre/left winger, great on faceoffs, fast, great pker, still young. Zubov is a mid level prospect, put up respectable numbers in Binghampton last year in his first year in North America, could develop into a top-six forward.

Thoughts?

You're just not gonna get fair value for him, IMO. He's too young with a lot of potential and not enough experience.

After reading about Phil Kessel in the 2008 IIHF World Ice Hockey Championships, I hereby retract my trade offer of Kessel for Suter.

Phil was tied with Patrick Kane for Points with 10
Phil lead the team with 6 goals
Phil was tied for +/- at +4
Phil had the highest shots/goal % at 42.86%

Phil is tearing it up!

Would the Preds be interested in a deal involving Weber and Pitkanen (EDM)? Torres, Stoll, and Schremp would probably be available if 1 for 1 isn't enough (and I assume it wouldn't be).

The only name on the Oilers that interests me if Weber is involved is Gagner...and even then, I dont think anything could make it worth it. Weber is just too good.

He was very, very good. Kane was better, but Phil was 2nd best.

He's been a new player since his benching in the playoffs and I hope to see it continue into next season, but he still has a lot to prove. I'd love for him to prove me wrong and fulfill his potential.
