Still, the Habs played well enough that their goaltending should not have been a factor if they'd buried at anything approaching a normal rate. The Penguins not so much, but their victory over the Flyers was never in doubt.

What doesn't pain me is that tons of people were ready to called Fleury a bust.....seeing how he finally responded makes me think that people should just be a little bit more patient with goalies.

The whole thing with AKost, and I may have been part of that a little, I admit, was moreso the fact that most guys chosen after him was already doing their thing. His play mixed with other draftees play, and that's the recipe for panic mode....
I think, all things being equal (and considering Ottawa's collapse), Pittsburgh and NYR are the two teams in the East that are currently better than Montreal in terms of overall depth. However, I think that Montreal and Pittsburgh are still on their way up whereas NYR, sadly, can stay the same or decline (unless they buy another set of superstars). So I'm excited to see whether Montreal will develop at a faster rate than Pittsburgh or not next year.
That said, the fact that you're always so down on the Habs and their players as well as team Canada kind of pisses me off a little.

BTW, as far as RFA are concerned, we can get draft choices based on their salary. Is it based on the offer or on the previous year salary? Other question: Can the team having the rights to RFA equal the offer and keep the player?
I'm no CBA expert but there a offer sheet salary/draft pick compensation scheme for RFA. That scheme is in some way related to the salary cap IIRC.

From $ 1 to 2- = 3rd pick
From $ 2 to 3- = 2rd pick
From $ 3 to 4- = 1st pick
From $ 4 to 5- = 1st pick + 2nd pick + 3rd pick

As you can see, the more $ you offer an RFA, the bigger return you have to pay in order to get him from his team if his team doesn't match your offer.
Ex.: The Montreal Canadiens have to sign RFA Andrei Kostitsyn.
Let's say that the Minnesota Wild are really interested in Andrei Kostitsyn and are willing to offer him 5M$/year for 6 years.
2 possibilities. Either the Habs don't match the Wild's offer and lose Andrei Kostitsyn to the them and get 4 1st round pick in return or they match the offer submitted by the Wild and have to pay Andrei Kostityn 5M$/year for 6 years.
