change the 3rd to a prospect like Grabner and you might have a deal.

I'd rather have Kotalik than Afinogenov.. and it would probably take something like Bieksa and Raymond, unless Regier happens to be particularly high on Bieksa; I don't think his value is all that high right now.

Hasn't this been beat to death already?

Anyway, I'd definitely consider it, although I think I'm one of the few Canucks' fans that would like to hang onto Bieksa.

Since we laid down Bieksa for Stafford, it's like dealing a 3rd round pick for Afinogenov. Maybe a second would do it.

But like others, I'd rather try and pry Kotalik from them, and upgrade it to a 2nd and a prospect.

Most Sabres fans were ok with Bieksa for Stafford. My guess is that they'd want more in return than a 3rd for Afinogenov, perhaps upgrade to a 2nd? My concern would be with where Afinogenov would fit into the line-up. He'd be a horrible fit with the Twins IMO and with Raymond likely being penciled into the line-up on the 2nd line, that would leave two, speedy, pass first players on the 2nd, seems like overkill for a team that needs more goalscorers. I too would prefer to get Kotalik back in the deal as I think he would make a solid triggerman for the Sedins, allowing Stafford to play on the 2nd line. Add a center such as Jeff Carter or Patrick Marleau and IMO that would be a much improved top 6.

What would you think of something along the lines of Umberger and Knuble for Bieksa and Bourdon or your 2nd Rd pick this year at the draft?

I'm not a huge fan of either player really. Umberger had a great post-season, but other than that, nothing too special. And Knuble at 36 years old isn't really the player I'd like to see the Canucks' targeting.

But like I said, I'd like to hang onto Bieksa at all costs. I'd actually prefer to trade Edler before Bieksa, assuming the return was good(ie: a young, top 6 forward).

Nah. Absolutely no deal. Bieksa was awful, and may never recover from his injury. On top of being grossly overpaid. He's the most overhyped player in the league.

And why trade a good young player. When we can offer sheet a better young D then Bieksa.

Stafford would require the inclusion of Vancouvers first round pick.

Sure you can - but unless it's a significant offer (ie., around what Bieksa is making) the other team will just match.

As for him being "grossly overpaid" - he was a pending UFA. It costs extra dollars to ask a player to "give up" potential years of UFA status.

Most overhyped? Meh, his the *only* guy on the Canucks blueline that makes significant coin that doesn't have a NTC. It's no surprise he'd be involved in a number of trade proposals (with the idea of clearing more cap space to sign more top six forwards).

Inclusion of a 1st round pick? Pass.

No.

If there's one guy we don't want on the team, it's Afinogenov. He's exactly what we need less of in this team. It'd be like having Naslund again.
