The first Non-North American Captain to win the cup will not be Koivu, unfortunately.

And he is playing under a real system. Hard to argue that he is not great.

Everyone can make the argument for who is the best of all time but he should be considered for sure.

Regular season and Playoff stats are very close between Lidstrom and Robinson...one area where it isn't even close? Robinson almost doubles Lidstrom's plus/minus.

If Jordan Stall can neutralize the line of Datsuk and Zetteberg, Pittsburgh has a chance.

To me it goes like this :

1) Orr
2) Bourque
3) Lidstrom

However , in Orr case i have to go by his reputation and numbers since i never saw him play other than on the NHL Network or ESPN classic games.

I think Detroit will win

I'm cheering for pitt though...

i don't want lidstrom to be the first euro captain to win it... nothing against lidstrom cause i respect the guy and think hes the best defenseman in the league, but I want the euro captain thing to be Koivu.

I'm going to get lynched for saying this but.....Lidstrom deserve the honor much more than Saku does.

Certainly among the best all time defencemen. For me it's Orr. Smooth, scary, dominant.

Detroit because I hate the Pens.

Also, to shut the mouths of people who say European captain can't win cup. I'm sick of this statement.

No arguments that Lidstrom is great and definitely should be considered among the best D-men of all time. But Orr was off on a level that no one has been able to approach since.

I think this will be one of those "Experienced team teaches up-and-comer a lesson" series. Wings in 5 or 6, but look for the Penguins to get back to the final and win it within the next 2-3 years.

Pretty interesting stat. Yeah I like Detroit more than the Pens. At least they don't have first round picks handed down to them. i guess watching some classic games of Robinson would be sweet too.

This series will be decided by the goalies.

Crosby/Hossa=Datsyuk/Zetterberg but Malkin/Malone>>>>Franzen/Hudler

It will pretty much come down to which Goalie will save the day, because i don't think you can limit either team to low scoring chances.

After watching the Det/Dall and Pitts/Philly series, I find the west teams are playing much more intense and faster brand of hockey. Its like watching two different leagues, buts thats just my opinion.

Detroit in 4.

That Detroit defense is waaay better than Pittsburgh's and this is where it will be played. That transition game detroit has is incredible and it makes everybody look good.

Osgood isn't good enought to stop Crosby+Hossa+Malkin

Pens will win it.

I want the Wings to win, so they can shatter the myth that European captains have no heart, and shouldn't be leaders.

When the challenge finally comes for Fleury (his team has faced no adversity that Fluery has had to pull them out from) he will crumble.

You guys thought Ribeiro had it turned around, Theodore had it turned around. Players just don't just figure and fixed their psyche in a couple months. Fleury is no exception.

It's hard to bet against the Detroit Robots, who emotionlessly (is that a word??) go about the routine business of destroying NHL teams. However, I think there's a good chance that Pitts' big three can rip a hole in Osgood (or as I prefer, Chris Wasgood... like what I did there?). Moreso than Detroits big guns' chance of abusing MAF. It will all come down to the defensive corps of each team, IMO. Not only the ability to control the defensive zone, but also the ability to open up the opposition in transition. This series could have a lot of those goals where a big rush one way leads to a big save and then a rush immediately in the opposite direction turning into a goal. If that made sense to anyone with less than 4 cups of coffee in them.

BTW, it must be a sign of elite status when you are referred to by an acronym (well, initials really) rather than your real name(s). Go MAF you baaaad MF.
