I like it from Washington's perspective given the logjam on defense they're likely to have over the foreseeable future. It gives them additional depth with good size up front but I don't know how readily they'd be looking to take on more contracts as they get closer and closer to the maximum. Straight up value, though, I'd take this deal if I'm McPhee.
The last thing the Hawks need is another D propsect.
The Hawks have 6 D-men under 25 on the roster, now.
Blunden, Brophey and a 3rd? Way too much.
Blunden looks like he just turned the corner. A good camp and he has a shot at the Chicago roster.
I feel that Seabrook is a good d-man.
Right now the Hawks have Seabrook, Keith, Wisniewski, Barker and Hendry all under 25 on our roster. But our depth is not as great as it was a few years ago. We have Richmond (AHL/NHL Tweener), Hjalmarsson (He is our top d prospect) and a couple of guys who have some potential but are years off (Pepin, Charlebois, Lavin and Turner). Seabrook would help rejuvinate our D core depth.
We have too many C and RW's similiar to Brophey and Blunden in Hawks system now. And a 3rd is a solid pick.
